Title: Gargoyles
Post by: TakariFreak on September 06, 2002, 10:03:24 AM
Is anyone here a fan of Disney's Gargoyles?  I know it's old (it was produced 94-97), but I love it to pieces!  It's my favorite show that is "dead" (since no new episodes have been produced in 5 years), but It never gets old to me.  I've gotten to know a lot of fans from that show, and I was just curious to see if any of you are fans as well....If not...You can watch it on Toon Disney at 11:30 EST Mon-thurs (And I think sat and sunday, but Not firday).  And from Oct 28 (I think, ill look it up if need be) to Oct 31, they are showing a marathon, all eps in order!  Then you can see this great series from the start!

I'll step off the soap box now.

Awesome show, certainly one of the best cartoon shows ever created.  The story was good, I loved how it was ongoing, how each episode was not limited to itself but lead to the next one.  I also loved how they included Shakespear's MacBeth into the story, it certainly made it easier for me to remember that play.  I was sad to see it end to but it had a good run, they had produced a ton of episodes.  The second season is still my favorite, espeically with Avalon and them touring the world.  It was a much darker cartoon for an a Disney production and it was great to watch it after school.

I dont think this ever got a release in the UK. Was it like a spin off from the three gargoyles in the hunchback of notre dam???????

No, it's totally unrelated to those Gargoyles (though it was inspired by the gargoyle statues at Notre Dame and other place, but that's the only conneciton).  I'm not exactly sure, but I think part of the series WAS released in the UK (I remember hearing about someone from there who saw the episode that's not aired in the US by Toon Disney to to it's graphic nature).

I agree, the story writing in Season 3 of Gargoyles took a serious plunge.  But it did recover near the end of the series, the last 10 episodes weren't too bad.  But you could definitely tell that the Goliath Chronicles (the new name for the third season) wasn't written by the same person.

This reminds me of something, I read a book with a heroine named Elisa in it. She is an Austrian violinist with a christain mother and a Jewish father, and she lives during WWII, and helps Jews escape from the Nazis. The book has nothing to dow ith gargoyles though.
