Hello...
First post in this forum. I am curious if there are any Windows Desktop themes available that are based on any of the King's Quest games?

Say:
what we have are wallpapers only, not complete desktop themes, and as far as I believe we had 2 before server crash (kq9 wallpapers), if they are not available right now we will make them soon
Storm:
Here's a thread by someone who claims to have made a KQ6 desktop theme on the Tierra forum:
http://pub57.ezboard.com/froyalquestforumsfrm15.showMessage?topicID=1018.topic
Storm:
And here's the MOE official themes:
http://www.softlookup.com/preview/dis11613.html
Say:
OR you can go to media, then wallpapers and download the amazing trial artwork done by mike released on the second newsletter ready to fit in your screen done by the kq9 team
Storm:
And back on the Desktop themes topic, you'd think there'd be more fan-made KQ themes out there, considering themes aren't very hard to make. I hardly found any, besides the offical MOE one which doesn't really count

I have several sounds of that theme in my current custom-theme. Oh, and the recycle bin is also MoE-style.
Storm:
You're using the MOE desktop theme? traitor!!
The Knight:
A HERETIC! FLEE FROM HIM!

I thought he was just calling MoE trash.

I'm using b]parts[/b] of the MoE desktop theme. And, like Yonkey said, the Mask logo is trash, and the sounds are specifically the ones where Connor is in trouble. That way, I can hear a bit of Connor-bashing everyday.
Jeysie:
Ooh, hey, I wouldn't mind some KQ action figures. And I bet everyone will want a Connor voodoo doll...
Peace & Luv, Liz
The Knight:
I already have one.
*The Knight staps the Connor Voodoo doll
DIE CONNOR!
dragonslyr:
The Moe theme only works for Win98. For XP it doesn't have everything...
Storm:
Oh, what a shame
The Knight:
At least there is some good of XP. The MOE theme doesn't work.

I beg your pardon! Only Win98?
/me punishes dragonslyr for his ignorance on the OS's the MoE theme works on. ;D
Or give away free shirts with Cesar's face on them, and make people pay if they want to return the t-shirt. ;)
Or you might be able to sell big glossies of the sketches, since they technically count as fan art and should be sellable (see anime conventions, they do this all the time for $10 a glossy).
Wait, wait, I got it! An official "Connor Haters United" t-shirt! :suffer:
In all seriousness, if I can't have the action figures ;) (a little Alex doll would be so cute... (sniff)) a KQ9 desktop theme would be very cool. (Hey, that's actually sorta on-topic! ;D)

I'd rather have a Cassima doll. Ofcourse, I wouldn't mind a Rosella doll either. ;D
There will be a KQ9 desktop theme. Yonkey should be working on it right now ;)

He's fine-tuning these forums
right now!:P
Anyone ever see the "Crash Dummy" break-apartable car from a bunch of years ago? I say we make Connor the Crash Dummy and sell that. ;D
A KQ9 desktop theme is more important than clearing up after T-Knight's dotted messes :P

Desktop theme is a must. Make it as OS compatable as you can. Creat multiple ones if needed. But I want a desktop theme. ;D
I don't even know how to make one in Windows, let alone Unix. :suffer: But it is a good idea though. Maybe we'll make one once we start upping wallpapers, sketches, sound clips, etc. 8)
A desktop theme is a must, but they probably wouldn't release one before the game is completed :-\
Making desktop themes is easy. Or rather, the techie side of making themes is easy. Just take one of the themes that comes with Windows Plus! and futz around with that, seeing what does what. This page offers a few ideas on what sort of files you need:
http://www.themeworld.com/faqs/themes-create.shtml
It's coming up with the content of the theme that's the hard part, especially for choosing sounds that are cool, but not irritating as heck. (You might think a certain sound is fun, until you start hearing it 50 times a day because it's your "error!" sound.)
At any rate, if you can come up with the goodies that go into the theme, and some color scheme ideas, I could most likely whip up the techie stuff for ya, no problem. Well, for Win 95/98, anyway... somebody with WinXP would have to mod it for that OS. And I haven't a clue about non-Win OSes.
Peace & Luv, Liz
My brother used to have this quote from "The Matrix" play every time you shut down his computer:
"Have you ever had a dream that was so real... What if you were unable to wake from that dream... How would you know the difference between the dream world the real world?"
After a while it got so irritating I would shout "DIE MORPHEUS DIE!!!" and turn the speakers off when I shut down the computer :P
Not the whole theme... maybe just the fanfare :)
Yeah, the fanfare would be nice. ;D
Though to tell the truth, I have no sounds activated on my computer now as I cannot stand sudden noises when I'm doing stuff. Scares the crap outta me when I have the speakers up full blast and I hear a sudden "Ding!" due to an error message. :P
Truth be told, I don't use theme sounds either... although in my case it's because I only have my speakers turned on when I'm either working with/listening to audio files, playing a game, or working with/watching video files, and theme sounds would be a disruption in those cases. I'd still love the wallpaper and icons, though. :)
Peace & Luv, Liz

Why do you say that? One could be made from the stuff we have released and will release to the public before the game is released. It could be like the "KQ9 Prelease Desktop Theme" since most of the stuff wouldn't be comletely finalized anyway. 8)
desktop themes its actually, well yes a choice, anyhow I know we would have more availability on files to get on library rather than desktops, and by that I mean just wallpapers.
I think we should have a Torture Connor icon on the desktop that looks like Connor, and a mouse pointer that's a dagger. Then, whenever you "click and drag" Connor, he screams in agony and writhes about. ;D
Yeah! drag that Connor!! bash him against the side of the screen!! :suffer:
I've got a javascript that does that, but it's more of a bounce than a bash. Maybe I can put Connor's head on it? ;)
Important objects or inventory items from the game could also make nice icons, and the mouse pointers should be like the ones in the game :D
omg, nice feedback
thanx, love you all :D
*takes notes*
You're welcome, and have as much fun making it as we will using it! ;D
So, Say is making the KQ9 desktop theme? :D
Im so trying to get more things into the site as it is, aka art and other stuff I know we could, but remember those are other deparment features as well so I have to be polite and respect rules and ask first, this does works as a company at so many lvls, I wish we would get payed too :D *hint hint* hahaha just kidding :P (but I do really wish we would:) )
I wish I had time to make a desktop theme. I used to make them all the time for my wife. I made her a theme for Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, complete with icons - but not sounds. And I love making wallpapers ;D But, I'm hairline deep in texturing and getting ready for the voice overs.
Besides - have you seen Say's artwork???? She's awesome! I haven't seen much of Yonkeys. Sorry, Yonkey - I know you're good, but I haven't seen your work yet. You should post some up for all of us on the forum. It's funny how much I've been on this forum the past few days :). You're all so much fun!! I wonder why it took so long for me to finally start posting here?? ;D This face has a grin as toothy as mine. ;D

Quote from: oldbushie on December 04, 2003, 03:59:57 PMNo, really, it's Pirates of the Caribbean.
/me wonders if he can check online whether those pirates are available on DVD in his area too, since it seems not so long ago when it was available in theaters
