Funny, I thought Cesar told you not to let us have this discussion

How long do you estimate the whole process (auditions+recordings) should take? It's important that those who would have to travel to NYC know how long they'll have to stay there.

Yeah, I wouldn't be able to stay for an extra week unless school were cancelled. I will try for the online auditions though, I have a great duck voice .

J/K, though I am pretty good at impersonating a variety of things, unless it's someone scary like Britney Spears.

I have done plays for four years in high school, so I have the experience. I'll be glad to help out with any minor roles as I am currently dorm-bound.

Online auditions?  YES!   I could be an extra.  I'm be trying out online then.  I'm pretty sure I couldn't make it to NYC anyway.

Hmm. So if someone comes and tries out, then they would come back later for recordings, maybe on subsequent weekends? That would be a good plan... I mean, my roomie and I aren't hideously far away, but we're not exactly nearby, either.

Peace & Luv, Liz

I'd -love- to try online, but my recording equipment is crappy *cry*  Plus I can't really do any voices other than that of a south west Devonshire female.

So it's the Josh Mandel discussion he wanted to avoid? I'll avoid it then

You never know - maybe that's just what they're looking for? besides, it could be interesting

I'll try for the online auditions as well (if at all). I can't really afford a long visit to NY, and even if I could, my nonexisting acting skills are hardly worth the trouble

You'd be amazed with what you can do with sound editing software.    But, it still has its limits.  Of course, Mike wants the major parts to be at the highest quality, which is why they're being recorded in NYC.  But since the online auditions will be minor ones with not many lines, just try out and I'll see if I can hopefully enhance the quality.

Just for fun, my acting career:

A number of chorus parts  in HS and summer theatre

In my murder mysteru improv group in college I played the following parts:  an apprentice hooker, Black Spy (from Spy vs Spy), a ditzy 80's sorority VP, Moth the Fairy (midsummer night's dream...our own take on Shakespeare), a dragon, and a Trekkie at a 15 year high school reunion (this part included doing the Thriller dance).

I *heart* improv!

I've been working on my fake Middle-eastern and Austrailan accents.  G'day mate, I'm from Iran.
They're not perfect yet though.
I can always be Mickey Mouse.   JK!  \

Why fake Middle-eastern? You've got the real thing right here

My acting career is comprised of two class plays at grade school, in which I was forced to participate, and where the only measure of good acting was whether you could shout loud enough for the audience to hear you in spite of the crappy microphones
I'm lowering my expectations accordingly.

That's up to you.  Use whatever voice you feel fits the role of the part.

So will there be a list of roles you can audition for I would assume.  And would you audition for only one role.  Or all of them?

I don't see why you couldn't audition for all of them.  I still don't really know all the details yet though.  If there's too many parts then we'll set in limits.

What kind of sound effects (do I really want to know)?

Various instruments, some basic bird calls, revving of car engines, explosions, and whatever else goes well with overloading a cheap mike.

Of course, most of these are available online as it is, but I can make sound effects more variable at least... or I could just help out with finding online sound effects, whichever's better.

Yeah, only it would be based loosely on what I've seen in movies. ;D Never heard a dope freak up close and personal. :P

Say - did you mean the sound of an fart that's been sitting in the intestines for awhile after someone has smoked dope?  Or do you mean an old man who's doped up?  Because those would be two VERY different sound effects.  And I'm not sure I really want to hear either ;).
(shudders at the thought of the old fart)
