So I was going through King's Quest Companion and something just hit me...
Note before I begin, in the case of the King's Quest Omnpedia we just assume sorcerer, enchanter, and Manannan are all seperate characters since there is nothing specific which explicitley states that they are the same character.
However in the King's Quest II novel it mentions that the evil enchanter in Kolyma was wearing the pointed hat that designated him a member of the Magician's Guild (http://www.sq7.org/KQ/index.php/Magician%27s_Guild). Also King Graham mentions that he thought that the enchanter might have been the same sorcerer he ran into during his search for three treasures of daventry.
In Alexander's account of his adventures during KQ3, he mentions manannan kept several of the pointed hats that designated him as member of the Magician's guild.
Could it be that Peter Spear was trying to weave a connection between the three Magician's we saw during the first three King's Quest games. Infact to the point that he may have been implying that they were all one and the same character?
It also should be noted that there is possible connection that the Sorcerer from KQ1 may have been the same one that stole the Magic Mirror in the first place.
It brings an interesting thought, that if they are the same character, that perhaps we have a different spin on why Manannan watched in glee as the dragon was heading towards Daventry, and also why he kidnapped Alexander.
If Mannanan had been trying to destroy Daventry for years, being the patient man that he was, he may have first made sure he had stolen the magic mirror so that they wouldn't be able to predict the coming of Dahlia, and False Dwarf.
Its stated in the companion that fall of Daventry was nigh, when Graham found the three treasures at the last possible moment.
He certainly would have been upset at Graham for recovering the mirror, and the other treasures. It would have been a setback to his plan to destroy the kingdom.
Several years later when Alexander was born, he found another chance to weaken the kingdom by taking its first born heir. He had taken slaves in the past, but this one was special not only would he enjoy destroying Daventry's rulership, but he would also have the enjoyment of playing with Graham's own son.
It is known that mysterious spell had been cast on the Magic Mirror to darken it so that it could not be used to get information. Could Manannan been behind the spell?
While neither Manannan nor Mordack released the Three-headed Dragon, its known from King's Quest 4 manual that he enjoyed the dragon's destruction of many kingdoms on its way to Daventry, as he had a hatred for humanity.
Could Manannan actually be the talking cat from "Sabrina the Teenage Witch"?
ROTFLOL, that's a good one.
I've always thought Mannanan was mainly an observer of the decimation across Daventry. Maybe he was the sorcerer mentioned in King's Quest I. Of course, I suppose it doesn't matter now that he is a cat.
Ya he apparently was mainly an observer during the decimation of King's Quest 3, as is mentioned in KQ4 manual. He was not the one that sent the dragon out.
The companion hints that the dragon was probably released and controlled by someone. But it says it was neither Manannan, nor Mordack that did it.
Never the less, Manannan was watching the events from afar and enjoyed what was happening.
Also it would be interesting to know what Manannan's criteria is for kidnapping kids. It would have been nice to know why he chose Alexander.
As a side note, companion mentions that nothing is known about Manannan after he was put into the bag. Derek Karlaevagen hopes he hasn't escaped, and certainly hopes he hasn't found a way to reverse the spell, so he can't take revenge.
I wonder if TSL will at all deal with little things like how the dragon was set loose upon Daventry, or what happened to Mannanan after he was left in the bag (it does seem kind of unfitting that he would die of starvation or suffication trapped in a bag, doesn't it?

I actually can't remember how much the dragon relates to the plot, but I know that he is in the Making Of (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/promos/trailer/) video in storyboard form. 8)

Cooooool 8) I didn't see this before. Thanks ;D.
If the AGDI version of kq2 is to be believed, probably the dude in the black cape sent the dragon.
The plot of TSL only takes the official backstory from the Sierra games into consideration. The extra plot added in the AGDI remake of KQ2 is ignored.

Now that you mention that... I wonder why does in the Making Of video Alexander kills the dragon by throwing a sword to it, instead of using the Brewing a Storm spell. Are you guys just changing that part of the story?
You'll see why in Chapter 3. :suffer:

I think you mean Part 3...isn't Chapter three still with Graham? ;P
It's still with Graham, and I did mean Chapter 3 (of Shadows). 8)
From this and other forum posts, I'd speculate that chapter 3 sees Graham travelling into some shared dream that Alexander and Rosella are being forced to endure because of Shadrack's magic.
Interesting... 8)
LOL and "Sweet Dreams" just started playing on the radio too. XD
XD Do we have to wait? XD Just kidding. I don't mind waiting! But still... It will be quite interesting how TSL incorporates these issues... I can only speculate and wait... :P

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand teasers!!!!!!!!!
*sits staring at the computer waiting for TSL to be released so she can make sense of all the teasers*
I hadn't seen this thread before. Brings up some interesting issues. And I hadn't realized that the dragon in the video was the the one Alexander killed with the storm spell... interesting...
*feels like she'll either die or go insane from the suspense and tantalizing teasers* ;P
I'd love to see how you'd do in my shoes. I have full access to the script but refuse to read it because I want to enjoy this game like a normal fan.
:o
*has no idea how in the WORLD you are able to do that*
Although I wouldn't want to either, i just don't know how long I'd be able to hold out. Particularly reading threads like this one.
I wouldn't have a problem with that. That's the same reason why I haven't played the demo.
However when the game is released I would love to read the script.

*jaw hits the floor* How do you do that?? Teach me this art of self discipline! I have none whatsoever.

I doubt I could be buggered reading the script if I had it. XD
The demo has pretty much no plot whatsoever though, so I'm pretty sure you'd be fine playing it, Shades.
But as for the script, I'd probably do the same thing. I mean, why read it when you could wait and live it? I wouldn't want to be all alone in my "OMGSH! I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED!"-ness either. :P It would be no fun reading it alone. I might be VERY strongly tempted if a few of my friends also had access. :P
Typically I hate spoilers, but if it is right there in my grasp and all I have to do is flip a page, I doubt if I would be able to resist. GRRR!
*sits and stars at the screen until TSL comes out*
