Title: Pre-Rendered and In-Game
Post by: TheReturnofDMD on August 06, 2006, 06:22:47 PM
Hi

I've heard that the intro sequence for the full game is going to be a prerendered cutscene, and that the majority of later sequences are going to be in-game cutscenes. I have two questions
A) What is the difference between a prerendered and in game cutscene? Graphically, I mean.
B) Are there going to be any other prerendered cutscenes?

Actually, there will be two intro sequences: prerendered first and in-game second.

A) A pre-rendered sequence means it is in a video format, and done in Maya.  The quality is significantly higher than in-game, and we are able to do more special effects and animation techniques that Torque is not able to perform.  The TSL Trailer is an example of a pre-rendered cutscene.

B) Yep, see above. XD  In general, we're trying to stay low on them though, because they take up a lot more disk-space than in-game ones.
