It seems kind of silly but a lot of newer games will run on my system except for the video card. A lot of them want at least an ATI Radeon 9500 and I have an ATI Radeon 9200 which is not that old. Needless to say, I am not planning on upgrading very soon because I still want support for 98SE which the newest video cards do not support. In addition, I have not seen any new adventure games that I want to buy that will not run on my system.

That is because not many has been released over the past few years. The only one that I saw, was Keepsake.
You might want to upgrade to an X1600. They aren't that expensive (I've bought mine for €130), has drivers for Windows 98 and supports DirectX 9.0c architecture, depending on how fast your rig is.
You may also wish to use Win2000 instead of Win98. Especially on slower machines the increase in performance is considerate to say the least . . .
I dual-boot with 98SE and XP PRO. I need 98SE for my older DOS games and programs. In addition, I really like 98SE and am really comfortable with it. I do not want Windows 2000. I will check out the Radeon X1600 and thanks for the information.
If it's a choice between Windows 2000 and Windows XP, I would go for XP. Of course, depending on how good Vista is, I may eventually recommend that more than XP. XD
Gaming-wise, no MS operating system has been able to beat Win98SE in terms of performance yet. Windows XP is the closest (to date), but even it doesn't work well on all games. WinXP has better memory management than Win98SE, but Win98SE has better 3D graphic performance. 8)
Well, I decided to go with an Ati Radeon 9800 XT since this is the best graphics card that I could get from Ati that supports 98SE. This graphics card has 256 mb's of video ram -- yes double the amount that I currently have and is still supported. The X1600 does not support 98SE.
It cost just over $100 for a new card and when it originally came out it was available for over $500 -- ouch!
