Title: Sierra's Back in Business
Post by: TheReturnofDMD on August 28, 2006, 12:30:13 PM
Well, it looks like Vivendi is bringing Sierra back
Linky (http://www.gamespot.com/events/sierra2006/index.html?tag=topslot;action;3)
But, unfortunately, no sign of any KQ Compilation....)=

EDIT: Fixed the forum stretch (http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n238/koko_99_2001/kitty.gif)

hmmm

Well, it's not like Sierra has ever been gone. I mean, the physical company is gone, but VUG has been using the sierra label to release all of their games. All these games have also been around for a while. I don't see how is this news? (unless I'm not seeing something in that link)

Well, actually the physical company is back. I've seen articles where Ed Zobrist is referred to as the President of Sierra.

Sieera works from within VUG. I don't think it's ever been "dead" or lacking a place. What i was saying is that it's not a full studio of its own, but rather something within VUG. I'm sure there were people appointed to take care of it as well all of this time, or maybe Vivendi just stamped the Sierra name on their games, or now they are making a distinction? who knows, but I don't think anything's changing in the way they've been doing business as to what kind of games they are doing.

Sierra works from within Vivendi, but it is a separate company, in the same manner that Blizzard is, due to the fact that Sierra once again has it's own development studios in Radical Entertainment, High Moon Studios, Swordfish Studios, and Massive Entertainment.

And I think Vivendi Games is starting to operate under the Sierra name, as in Vivendi itself is doing business as Sierra, in the same way that Davidson & Associates, the actual legal entity and company, does business as Blizzard. Vivendi Games doesn't even have it's own separate website anymore...When you type in www.vivendigames.com it brings you to the Sierra site....

that IS interesting. It used to be Sierra within the Vivendi site, now it's Sierra. I don't think they even know what they are lol
