Title: Good Adventure Games?
Post by: Stones Of Stealth on September 24, 2006, 08:50:58 AM
hey guys, im back i guess you can say for awhile.

but now that ive completed every KQ game like 4 times, im lookign to go onto something new(although KQVI never gets boring). im looking for new adventure games to try out. im not really interested in textual games, im looking more for a KQ style game, VGA period. and im not really sure what to play/look for.

someone suggested LSL series, a while back. but when i tried it, little did i know that it was a game porno o.O

is monkey Island any good? Space Quest? Quest for Glory etc.

are there any free downloads, or any "demos"? i cant order online or anythign because i am not allowed to, but just shoot me the names etc. and i will figure out a way.

Cheers,
Evan

Betrayal At Krondor is freeware, but it's more of an RPG. :) Still, it's a pretty good game and I would definitely recommend it.

As for commercial games, Quest for Glory and Monkey Island are both extremely good, especially QFG. :)

Has anyone heard of Herculean Effort (http://www.herculeaneffort.com/)? They do some free adventure games. They're not all that long, but they're pretty good. Their Apprentice series is pretty good.

Personally I would recommend QFG and SQ but you said you didn't want to play text games but the first two QFG and first 3 (?) SQ are text based.

I've heard of Herculean Efforts. :) I played Apprentice I and got about half-way through the second. You might also want to check bigbluecup.com or another adventure game engine site (such as Wintermute). :)

Also, if you're not sick of KQ3 yet, I'd definitely recommend playing the VGA version. :)

IIRC the first one was remade in VGA.  :D

True but I don't like it as much. Did they redo SQ1?

Legend of Kyrandia games are good and very similar to King's Quest in my opinion. Monkey Island games are also great. :D
