Title: Icarus' Thread
Post by: icarus on October 15, 2006, 08:44:10 AM
Oke here is my own thread whit some pictures of my hobby.
At my parrents house I still have my model railroad track. At the moment I'm changing the track. Since I live far away from my parrents it takes some tome to get it completed.
Here are some pictures of my trains and railroad track:
Train ahead
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a311/icarus1980/trainahead.jpg)

Some of the houses. I build a city in the style of old Amsterdam.

And the last picture for this post the power divide station. From this place all the lights trains ant other stuff gets it's power.

Maybe when my brother reads this he can take some pictures from my railroad.
Thinks he should do something realy adultisch by making some red light district houses. They even got moving persons  :o

Calculating aprox. the current rates €1, = $1,20
€66*1.2= $79,20.
BIGG diference.

Here some pictures of the track I'm/was building:
here is some of the railroad track.

I want to let a train cross the other tracks so I needed some wood to get the train up. What a mess in the middle of the room.

Recently I've bought a new box whit 2 houses in it. I was tinking to make one adult shop so probably no picture of that house.

I was home for some days so I could change my railroadtrack and get it more complete:
The train hat to cross all other tracks whitout letting the other trains stop. This means it has to go up
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a311/icarus1980/kunstwerk.jpg)

Here is a picture of all the houses in Amsterdam style I have overthere. 2 houses are still standing here and 23 more have to be build.
Well my time overthere is up so I had to go. Next post could contain pictures of the new houses.

22 when I count the houses I still have here.  I also have loads of houses that I won't use since they are another style of building (chalet factories etc)
Title: Re: Icarus' Thread

22 feet? :o
Title: Re: Icarus' Thread
Post by: icarus on January 21, 2007, 12:03:08 PM
no 22 houses (the length of the table is 2,5 meter by 2,5 meter whit a hole in it where you can stand in the middle.)
a house has a avarage with of 10cm and a length of 19cm. The height is 20cm.
Title: Re: Icarus' Thread
Post by: Yonkey on January 21, 2007, 12:58:41 PM
Ahh ok.  2.5x2.5, so that's like 8x8 feet?  That's not bad. :)

I've seen some on TV and movies that are massive and practically take up the entire size of the room. :P
Title: Re: Icarus' Thread

Mine is in the attic of my past sleeping room. Since I moved and didn't had enough space it's still at my parrents house.
Title: Re: Icarus' Thread
Post by: Yonkey on January 21, 2007, 01:20:17 PM
Did you finish building that one?
Title: Re: Icarus' Thread
Post by: icarus on January 21, 2007, 01:27:37 PM
As you can see on the pictures it isn't finished yet. I still need to place all the lights on the street and in the houses. The marked is still not on it's place and there are still no people on the street and you can see the wood. On the end you can only see the street/grass and the houses whit all kind of people near/on it.
Maybe at x-mas next year I will place a x-mas group in the centere of the city.

My house in the middle of the street. My house in the middle of the street.
lol. This it what I call model building. By using lights it just looks like it's more alive. All houses have their own light. Funny thing was my standard powersupply couldn't handle the amount of lights. Luckily I have a heavier powersupply that works. If my camera could make pictures in the dark you could see all the lights even better.
Next is the search for more houses. I still need almost 20 houses. Next month I can buy some houses a bit cheaper.

Cool!

Is there a way to use led lights? They would reduce the power draw a lot.
Title: Re: Icarus' Thread
Post by: icarus on September 16, 2008, 07:31:57 AM
that's posible but it probably won't do that much. The transformer I use suplies 7,5VA. Whit tha amount of lights I need I would probably have a trouble in power. The other transformer I use suplies 45VA. Way more power.

Just a though because I think led's use about a 10th or 15th of the power of a standard bulb. I'm not sure when compared to those little ones.

last weekend the unseen monster:
during a LARP event some people wanted to call a fleshgolum. And here it is. to bad during the summoning they did some things terebly wrong: calling the devil when all good people are standing close is asking for trouble. All the summoners died. I could remove all the make-up whitout being in game  :(
This monster is a combination of a goblin/human/gnome/ork/drow/zombie
