yeah :)

I dont watch buffy myself but I so know someone who does hahaha, and hes like more addicted to it than a girl with a crappy soap opera :P

But hey! I didnt say like bad guys! hahaha, well I didnt mean it that way!! :P, in fact one of the things I find sexiest the most on a man its personality, beyond good or bad, because -just- pretty boys are the same as -just- pretty girls, without a brain its nothing but a doll  :-\, plus, extremely boring I should say.

Hee. Well, honestly, I've only seen a little bit of Buffy myself... I just grabbed the first example I could think off of the top of my head. :) Although from what I have seen of Buffy, I was always a Xander fan myself. Yay, Nicholas Brendon, hee.

Quote from: Say on November 16, 2003, 09:17:46 PMBut hey! I didnt say like bad guys! hahaha, well I didnt mean it that way!

Hee! I didn't mean it precisely that way either... just that a lot of women like mysteriousness, spontenaiety and exciting-ness in their men, which "bad boys" possess more often than "good guys". (shrug)

Yeah, it might sound just like PC claptrap, but I really do care more about a guy's personality, at least past anything but a casual scope-out. Especially intelligence, and sincerity. Both are supah-secsay. :)

well yeah about bad guys, I tell those girls... -whatever- !!! hahaha I do believe bad guys problematic, and for that crap I got myself already so hahaha, I really havent had nice experiences with trouble guys not even as friends :P

I prefer someone that will make me centered instead of someone that will make my life a mess or a daily adventure, (trust me I am a mess myself I think :D), someone that would somewhat share my same expectations.

And anyways, in fact, you couldnt have said it better yourself, personality and honestly its quite sexy indeed :)

I have mysteriousness, spontaneity, and excitement! ...sorta. ;) I'm so mysterious I don't understand myself, I'm spontaneous in that I do random unexpected stuff on the internet + sometimes in real life, and I can play a *mean* game of bowling. ;)
Title: Re:this is sexy
Post by: Oldbushie on November 16, 2003, 11:50:59 PM
I wasn't defending, just pointing out that good guys can have those qualities too. ;) Just probably in the more sensible sense.

And while I do like spontaneity, even that is vastly planned out before I go on my trek usually. It's just that the things I choose to do are outside the normal scheme of things, that's all.

I like quiet excitement, and I'm only mysterious in that I have deeper qualities in me that no one has discovered yet, not even me.
Title: Re:this is sexy
Post by: Say on November 17, 2003, 10:09:11 AM
well however, its very subjective how you want to see it since everyone has a personal perspective on being for example exciting, on another note I totally agree with jeysie being mysterious its at some level annoying, I think it would adapt better into sort of looks or something because I couldnt be myself with someone whose personality or true self is a complete enigma to me, that is like a platonic love anyways, its not actually someone you can relate to at all if you cant possible know this person or something.

about exciment its also true if you dont share the same interestest at least you will never get to agree on whats excitement on both sides, sort of like the -typical- example the dude a sports fan, and the girl sort of like a book worm or something :P, you would share it cuz you care about this person, not cuz you care about sports :P, but lets face its better if you got more things that will make you together than more than will make you apart.

Spontaneity I believe comes with ppl who are somewhat comfortable with themselves, and they got time to be real and also open about things, not everyone is spontaneous since not everyone knows who they are for real, I think.

So, I believe those are qualities that does comes from your personality, so there is no reason to label it good boys or bad boys I guess, its just details that make someone :P

Quote from: Yonkey on November 17, 2003, 03:09:04 PMIt's fun! I used to have different facades for different people.  But for the past few years I've acted the same towards pretty much everyone.  :-\

Hmm. Why do you seem upset about that? I can understand maybe goofing off and pretending a bit to strangers you'll never see again, if that's your cup of tea. But you should be honest about yourself with your friends. Nobody said you had to tell all, but you shouldn't hide or pretend either. Acting fundamentally the same way to everyone (hopefully with that way being who you really are) can only be a healthy thing.

Well I think its only natural to act differently towards different people, still tho would be nice to have a one face fore everyone typa thing going on. I'm sure the day will come for me when I stop pretending to be an international supah star to all new peole I meet :P
Title: Re:this is sexy
Post by: Jeysie on November 17, 2003, 05:00:36 PM
Well, there's a big difference between, say, having differing levels of formality in different situations, but expressing the same core of general personality, and being totally different around different people.

I mean, for instance, I may restrain my kooky sense of humor if I'm around someone I know wouldn't appreciate it. But I wouldn't pretend I didn't have one, if the matter came up.

I have an absolute personality that everyone sees, and a somewhat superficial personality that superimposes on the solid personality so I can interact with specific types of people better.

Yeah, I think you can never completely know someone inside and out because you can't read people's minds and feelings.  But the more you get to know someone, the more you know about how they think and feel.  So it's like, once you build a trust and understanding with them, that's all you need.  But if that trust is ever broken or damaged, you start back at square 1.   ::) Still though, the process of learning and understanding doesn't stop when trust is broken.  :)

Quote from: mfortunato on November 18, 2003, 02:04:16 PMYes, I am a freak.  I watch all of the "supernatural" shows on TV.

So there you have it - you know, truly, what a geekazoid I am.  Freaks and Geeks UNITE!!!!  Form feet and legs.  Form arms and torso, and I'll form the head!

Hee! You like Voltron, too? We'll get along famously. ;)

I stopped watching TV more than just occasionally a few years ago, so unfortunately I've missed a lot of the new SF stuff. But I used to love shows like Babylon 5 (the best SF show EVER), Hercules and Xena (I'm a big Greek myth nut, so I always knew exactly how they ripped apart every one... ;) ), Seven Days, Sliders (Quinn Mallory is the thinking girl's dream guy, IMHO...), seaQuest (O'Neill and Ortiz, yay!), Red Dwarf (Rimmer was a total riot...)... and the more "classic" stuff like The Twilight Zone (now that is how all horror should be done, IMHO).

Peace & Luv, Liz

P.S. Yonkey, why do you always manage to move threads right when I'm in the middle of replying to them? :suffer:

Quote from: copycat on November 19, 2003, 02:57:44 PMWeren't there two seperate series (several years apart) of The Twilight Zone? Anyway, I watched the most recent ones, never could find the original series anyway.

Two series, yes, but much more than several years apart. The original was in the early 60's, and the most recent was a couple years ago, wasn't it? There was also a movie in the mid-80's which wasn't bad, but was mostly a remake of a few of the original's stories.

At any rate, I heartily recommend trying to find some way to watch the original... a good selection of the episodes are available on VHS. (Maybe someday they'll release the series on DVD, and it'll have a solid "must-buy" status right behind Babylon 5, when I finally get some money. :P)

It's just classic psychological horror, the way it should be done. Very little gore or men in rubber monster suits, just a lot of stories that take the everyday world (or at least a futuristic-but-otherwise-fairly-ordinary world), and show you a strange state of mind and supernaturality lurking behind it. It toys heavily with your expectations, and creeps out by revealing some of the more disturbing (or at least bizarre) twists on what we take for granted. Kind of like a really good Babylon 5 episode, actually. (Or a good Ray Bradbury novel/story.)

Outer Limits (both the original and the remake) is good as well, although it tends to drift a little more into "gore and rubber monster suits" territory, rather than sticking with the pure proverbial mindscrew.

Peace & Luv, Liz

The early 60's is a bit before even my time I'm afraid. :)
I'm not the one to ask about exact dates, not even years. Except a few really important ones (like the date when I started my current job), I recall nothing. That's why I have some sort of a journal, in which I type things I find important enough to keep.
I might be confusing Twilight Zone with Outer Limits. However, I don't remember any gore and monster suits, but then again, I recall only very small fragments. As far as Twilight Zone is concerned, I think I remember seeing it in the tv-listings somewhen (deliberate typo) in the past, but I don't remember watching it (which doesn't mean I didn't, just that I don't have any recollection of it). 8)

Yes, it seems rude to say pig intestines - but believe it or not, what they don't mention on that site is that the word "chitlin" has also been used as a term of affection for "little ones", for children.  Why, I'm not sure.  But I've heard it used many times (back in the old days.....;))

Maybe it started out as derogatory, cuz some old people don't like little children. ;) But those little children didn't realize the word had a bad meaning and used it on their kids. ;)
