Welcome to our forums magic :), make yourself at home around here, and dont worry thats why we are working here, to bring kq back to life :P
Heh. While I'd love to see a KQ movie, I think it would run into the same issue as making a SQ game, or whatever... namely that you'd pretty much end up re-writing the series from scratch from Day One. The first couple of games in each series would be kind of boring just to watch instead of playing, without quite a bit of re-write. The later games in the series you could stick more to, but they either wouldn't make much sense without first knowing the events of the first couple, or they could make sense, but you'd have to take out a lot of the stuff that's uniquely King's Quest-y.
Not that re-writing the series for movie-dom would be a problem, per se... the base concepts of the games are good, and some of the specific events, and I wouldn't mind being able to take advantage of the, well, advantages of film to make them a little "meatier". I guess I'm just saying that you couldn't really jump straight to KQ9 to make a KQ movie. ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz
Hello! ;D
I don't know about a movie either, the books were good though. ;D I liked the one about a fairy that needs to be freed or something.

Mango - Stop picking on the new poster ;)
The title of this thread might be "Fantasy", but it doesn't mean you should live out yours here... We have the off-topic forum for that :P

LOL! ;D
Here's a perfect example of the extremely weird and eccentric people we have here! ;)
Now Mango, don't mess with the newbie's head! :P
She's not really Roberta Williams, she'd just like to be. :)
I agree that a KQ movie would be difficult - too much to tell at this point. As a game, it works very well. And our director, Cesar, is very into giving the game a cinematic feel, so that's pretty close! (and no, it's not one of those click-here-when-told-and-watch kind of movie games...ugh).
I, btw, am Katie, the co-writer. Welcome to the forums!
thats one of the things I like the most about this kq perspective, its like all fresh and new, and not the fact of a 9th sequel but also the 3d concept, the movie feel, the indepth plot, its a lot to look foward too about this :)
Welcome to the forums, Dancemagicdance. I have the Labyrinth DVD. Of course I remember the girl's name, her name is Sara, same as my own name, except my name has an h.
I LOVED david bowie in that movie <3

Yonkey, please instruct the automatic swear-checker to replace the deleted (well, striked out in any way) word with the correct word (added by me to this quote). ;D
Anyway, a very belated welcome to the boards DanceMagicDance, I am the resident cat, leader of the multi-talented cat team, not affiliated in any way to the KQ9-team.
And before anyone asks, I DID notice DMD used that word. I just decided to give him the benefit of the doubt this one time, him being new to the forums and all - Let no-one say I'm not tolerent :P
That filter is a great idea! does it work retroactively as well? ???
you all are impossible :D
and the answer is no :P lol
Why not? I was under the impression it had already been put to use ???

Looks like it does! I've actually been wanting to add that in there for a while now, but I kept forgetting. ::)
wtf, no filters!

It seems to, since even the original post by DMD was altered by the filter.
Filters rule! (especially this one) ;D
I rented the Last Unicorn from Blockbuster, and it's an awesome movie! The plot was great, it's a great movie for both children and adults, if adults happen to like unicorns. I never did see it when I was a child, if I did see it I forgot about it. I had the video for 5 days, in that time I watched the movie 3 times, I loved it so much. i drew a picture of the unicorn. I was going to draw her in human form and the wizard, prince, and outlaw woman Molly too, but I didn't have room on the paper and I had to return the movie. I like to believe unicorns dragons and fairies exist in some magical otherworld out there. As long as they're in the human heart they are real.
Has anyone here seen the old show "The Storyteller." It was great.
Nope. What was it about??
It was this nine episode Jim Henson show. Every episode had this guy telling these fairy tales that were basically modified Grimm's Fairy Tales. It used a bunch of cool puppets, art and weird illusions. It was amazing!!! And there was no CQI in it at all!
I got the whole series on DVD for just $20 at Walmart.
Kewl. :)
I had forgotten the name but yeah I think I did see that! Did one involve this model of a dragon type thing in a school or something that this kid ended up talking to - like it came to life?
Umm, no, I ....... don't .....think......so. Also, it starred John Hurt as the Storyteller.
Yay, I'm a silly adventurer !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!!
I know "The Storyteller"... watched all of the episodes (I think there were only about 8 of them) and the one about greek myths as well (different storyteller but with the same dog) ;)
Can't recall every hearing or seeing that name. (The Storyteller)
I never knew about it until I saw it in Walmart one day and thought, "wow, cool"
isn't that a realy old serie? ('85-'90 or so?) ...I think I remember it, have seen it when I was very small, nice serie.... for that time ; )
It came out in the 80's. The Storyteller was an excellent (and short-lived) series. You can bet I'm picking that up on DVD.
Also, did you know they are making a live-action version of The Last Unicorn? I can't wait! Angela Lansbury is playing Mama Fortuna again - now she's actually old enough to really play her, not just voice her :D. I love that cartoon! I hope they make it in the style of Legend or Labyrinth or Dark Crystal. One thing I must say for the fantasy movies of the 80's, they were beautiful! We really don't have anything like that anymore.
I heard they're also making a live-action version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Yay!
Although, I think I remember hearing about some British TV-Movie type live-action versions of the first three books that were made a while back. Too bad the tapes/DVDs prolly wouldn't run on my equipment, that would be neat to see.
Peace & Luv, Liz
I saw that British production of the Narnia Chronicles ;D
I don't think it covered all of the books - either it didn't have "The Magician's Nephew", "The Horse And His Boy" and "The Last Battle", or those episodes weren't aired here :-\
I see why they wouldn't want to include "The Last Battle" though... that book was so depressing.
My Fantasy Lit. professor was talking about this last week. He said that they've already cast the White Witch...guess who it is...
Nicole Kidman! How cool will that be??? She's so perfect for that role...tall, pale complection, gorgeous...
Cat
I have some of those Narnia movies on tape and the whole collection is at the library. They're ok.
Yeah, a couple of the movies drag on a bit, ah well. At least the books are always good. ;)
