You used to be able to, but I don't think you can anymore.

I think because it would cause chaotic confusion. You might be able to ask Yonkey or Say, but they'd probably just say,  :suffer:.

Yes, it was causing some confusion when people kept changing their display names in combination with their avatars too often.

Is there a specific reason why you don't like using "theroachyjay"?
