I'm guessing PMs take up alot of server space. If people were allowed to send more, the forum could become alot slower with load times etc after excessive use.
I could be wrong on this...
For a second, I thought this was the Suffer petition. I thought, "The suffer pops up when you're over the PM limit..." :-\ XD :P

I do! :P And I like using email/PM as a delayed IM because then I can multi-task without seeming impolite or as though I were ignoring the other party.

That's correct, and the reason why I find the PM limit of 20 per hour to be sufficient.

lol, it's a good thing that when Merlin and I would send a hundred plus to each other in just a few hours, we never hit the PM limit XD

I'm notsure exactly how we did it...unless we were hitting right at 20 each per hour :P
