Title: King's Quest 5
Post by: DancingMagicDance on December 09, 2003, 10:46:12 AM
Hi

I was wondering. I'v heard of a 50 page manual that came with King's Quest when it came out, and a hint book, the manual had a brown cover with a key or somethin on it. Is this true, and if so, which version did it come with, the original 1990 diskette version, or the later cd rom version. And what did it have it in? I mean reading wise.

I'm not sure, as we got KQ5 from a friend who was done playing it. We have the CD version, and a hint book with a red cellophane thing, but I'm not so sure about the rest...

I've got both disk and CD versions. But, the CD version came without documentation, and the disk version's documentation is in my language - and they didn't bother to translate the whole thing  >:(

So, I don't know which one had the 50 page manual.
Actually, 50 pages isn't THAT much - the KQ collection manual (which I DO have) has over 60. I can guess what the manual has in it though - game instructions & a short synopsis of all previous KQs  ;)

Yours has 63 pages as well? :P Maybe the book with the 50 pages covers KQ 1-5, not just 5. :-\ I don't think game instructions & short synopses can't fill 50 pages. 8)

I think it had all that stuff...I still have the hint book, but I don't know where the manual is.

do you mean this one? I'm a kind of oldschool sierragames collector, so I figured this was what you meant. And it consists of 'only' 36 pages, which covers the gameplay and has some copyprotection symbols in it.

Yeah, that's the one I had too. Did KQ4 have a green one, I remember having a green cover with gold writing for one of them.

I thought all versions of KQ5 came with that book(minus the ones that had multiple KQ games).  :-\

Any chance that green book, was from the original version of KQ4(using the older graphics engine)?

They did... unless you got them illegally, or bought them from a b****** who didn't send you the manual. Or, in my case, if you got the game with a translated version of the manual, or had someone discard the manual in favor of putting other things in the game box :P

What else would you put in the box? A wad of cash? An iPod?  ???

I wish... ;)

But it was the rest of the KQ games, after their boxes were discarded :-\
