/me is trying to think of a way how to best put his voice into an as small as possible file...

You guys said about having a microphone. Do you mean having one for the actual audition in NYC, or the online ones. I need to know cuz the only mike I have has been the one my Dad bought in 1993 for our first computer, the old Packard Bell, which could only support up to 30 megs. hee hee I feel old.

30 Megs??  What do you mean, it's a digital voice recorder?

Well, a microphone is needed to record your voice for the online auditions.  I guess anything that can digitize your voice would be good (digital voice recorder, some mp3 players, etc) but a somewhat decent microphone (connected to your sound card) would probably be the best in terms of sound quality.

Quote from: Say on December 13, 2003, 03:07:34 PM- If you dont have mic, buy one, if you already do check out it actually works and it wont crap out your recording.
Since my dad films and records theatre plays, I'm guessing that mike will be fine. Although, I'm going to have to find a way to connect that mike to the pc... or find a way to work around that.

Quote from: Say on December 13, 2003, 03:07:34 PM- Try to consider other recording than the one the crappy microsoft thing that comes with every window, just for quality issues, I will get back to you on this since I want to drop in some names of some possible software available for this. And even if you DO use the standart one you will need a mp3 convert.
So the submitting file format will have to be MP3? About the recording software, please feel free to give your suggestions.

A suggestion on WHAT you want us to record would also be nice... I'm not very good at improv.  ;)

If anyone needs an mp3 converter, I find MP3 Workshop to be very useful. Small, free, easy to use, and doesn't need to be installed. :)

The easiest way is to use any sound recording program since most likely they will save in WAV format.  Then you can use that converter Jeysie mentioned to convert it to mp3.

Or, sound recording programs like SoundForge (http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com), Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp#product=92) and GoldWave (http://www.goldwave.com) (they aren't free but I think there are trial versions of them available) can save your recording into MP3 format directly.

I don't know if I would be anygood at the voices, but I'll help clean up anyone's audio files that they're submitting. I've got Cool Edit Pro 2.1 (professional audio editing software  ;D). I would LOVE to submit a voice you want me to, I've been playing the series since I was 5 and I'm getting a low end laptop just so I can play KQ6 again :). For what to recite, I'd like to know some of the lines you'd like, I have nothing in mind of what to submit without any clues.

the auditions online are still on the works, dont worry, we havent forget about that, we will have the parts online, a submit form and full information about it, its just lately its been INSANE since everyone is flying to NYC this week or next week so its a bit crazy all the work so far for cesar, mike and the others involved in this process, please be a bit patiente, thanks.

TO EVERYONE - please read

the NYC live auditions, to those who emailed and are going to the NY auditions, we will contact you soon, Im aware of the info provided now, dont worry this very same week we are giving you the parts and info needed.

the online auditions read above we will have everything available as soon as possible.

FAQ  ABOUT THE ONLINE AUDITIONS

what are the online auditions about?
if you cant make it to NYC you can submit your audition or auditions from the comfort of your home here at kq9.org, we will the option available in our site for you to get all the info needed and submit your demo

how does that work?
we've created a special link for you (soon to be available) that will be about all the general info/guide about these online auditions, meaning you will have to read the intro first in order to move foward to the submit form, which its most likely the part where all the technical display will show (demo requirements) for you to select the parts (displayed) record them and them upload the file in our site to have it sent directly to us.

what will happen after I upload that file?
you shouldnt have any trouble if updating your audition if you do as told in that form (the file requirement), if you do we already have available contact emails for you to send us whatever the problem is, contact us as soon as it happens and we will try to help you out. In case you successfully upload your file then you should be contacted afterwards in case your demo got approved for our talent director.

Please keep in mind this is a hard work that requires time in case you want to keep updated about this whole process you can keep track of it over here, we will keep everyone posted about it, as well feel free to ask anything about it over this thread. Thanks

Anyway, hi.  I met a bunch of you at the audition in NYC on the tenth.  Just wanted to say that I had a great time at the audition.  I am very impressed at how professional it all was.  Best of luck with the project!

Will do, oh commander of the bunnies.

I am still amazed that you all came from all over the country to hold the auditions.  My 10 minute subway ride seems pretty meager in comparison.

Yes, it just might take a little longer to get the sides up. Perhaps a week, but I don't know how Mike's schedule is right now. ;)

omg, yeah Im sorry, I haven't been able to keep up with the news here, the whole form and submit form system for you to audition online are done, the current problem is we should wait since they are -redoing- specifics, currently at the NYC live auditions they apparently got an excellent feedback, meaning thye did cast a lot of voices which means we will have the online auditions with more specific info in order to aim for other voices not casted yet.

either way thanks for your true concern here, I will email our talent director right away, I may have news coming for you guys this week, I'll post further news here when I can.

so bottom line the online auditions are coming, I apologize the delay but it's been a though process including the NYC live one, hang in there we will update the online auditions as soon as I get the info from them, thanks and again sorry for the delay.

if anyone is too eager and interested in detail info ( or bitching to me, lol ) about the online process you can contact me as however you would like to from my profile MSN, AIM, YIM, email, and I will gladly reply... or continue posting here, I check the forum and post as much as I can.

again, we are ready to upload the online auditions, the parts to audition are also available but as I said since we are adding specific info to this process, its been taking a while. It's done already not just available because -now- lacks of info for what we want.

there are going to be online audtions, just hang in there.

Title: Re:KQIX Voice Over Auditions!

Yeah, I have a question, Say. Do you know whether there are any major parts left? Like parts with more than a few lines?

Also, can we be casted for more than one part? I know a lot of games with voice acting use the same actors for different voices (especially the King's Quest series, since there are so many voices).

HOw much longer???? Are we there yet?  ;)
Title: Re:KQIX Voice Over Auditions!
Post by: Say on February 09, 2004, 05:57:19 AM
Actually that info will be available soon enough, I haven't seen mike around lately, everyone's a busy bee on the team now hence the massive production phase we are going though, but so far I've spoken with Cesar things are going on just great on that matter (the casted ones from the live auditions). More details you will probably get them from Cesar eventually.

the online auditions are not fully working at the moment, when it will be we will le you know

you dont need to be american to audition and you can do as many voices/demos as you would like once the online auditions are available.

The online auditions will be up for awhile, believe me.  I'll be so busy with recording the people from the live auditions, I won't have time to quickly go through the online auditions at a fast rate.  So you all will have plenty of time to record.

Folks - until you hear it from Say or Neil, it's just hearsay from me! ;)

EDIT: email me mike, thnx.
