Title: Yes it came in!
Post by: DancingMagicDance on December 12, 2003, 03:30:48 PM
Hi

It finally came in! I bid on, and won on Ebay, a collection of 4 seperate King's Quest Games, on ebay. The games were: King's Quest (orig version), King's Quest 2, KQ3, KQ4, and KQ5 (orig diskette vers). I got the games in today. Each comes with the original diskettes, the original manuals (which have not a scratch on them), the ads that came with the games and son on. they come in the original boxes, which also have NO scratches on them! Plus the version of KQ4 I got is the very rare AGI version. I know cuz I installed it and played it.

I think Say was asking DanceMagicDance, not Takari. ::)

That's pretty cool, all the same. ;D The originals, huh? Let me know what that easter egg in kq5 looks like (where you put the cloak on the broken sled and something funky happens). ;D

I have the original KQ5 disk version as well (or at least I think I do. Couldn't find it last time I looked - It would be really annoying if someone threw it out without telling me   >:().
The problem is, I no longer have the proper disk drive for it. And even if I did, it's so old the data must have faded away off the disks by now :P

It cost me $9.99, but with tax and s/h it came to $18.23. I played King's Quest 5 to it's finish. What I thought was cool was that in it you get to use more spells than just at that end. Like just before you go into the small bandit tent, you are told something like ''There is a bandit in the small tent. Graham will need use Crispin's wand to cast a sleep spell on the bandit. Than it gives you signs, and you have to consult the manual to interpret the signs into english. Or another time when you are about to push the boat it says ''Graham's strength has suddenly faded. You need to use Crispin's wand to cast a spell to make Graham have more energy.'' So it's cool. The graphics, however, are not as good as the VGA version which I also have, nor is the music. But it is still cool.

Those spells were the copy protection they had back then.  ;D I remember em, I guess they were only on the diskette version.

I know. But it's still cool! It makes it a little better, because think about it, why not get the wand some how in the end instead of having it the whole game and not having it do anything until the last five minutes.

Funny, I don't remember seeing that copyright protection when I played the game for the first time, although it was with the disk version  ::)

And the copyright protection WAS dumb and didn't fit well  into the game. They did a much better job of it on KQ6  ;)

There was copy protection in KQ6? ;) Well, it's true that there was the Cliffs of Logic and a couple other things perhaps, but they were indeed very well disguised.
