Title: Odd ads
Post by: Petra Rocks on October 19, 2007, 03:22:25 PM
For those of you with Gmail or google, you may have noticed the ads on your screen. Maybe it is just me, but I get some crazy ones and though a thread to share them in might be fun. ;D

"You can become the woman he adores and never wants to leave."

Ok.......

"Socratic Dialogue with David Hume on Milton Friedman and Positivism"

What the heck? XD It sounds like they strung together a lot of philosophical sounding terms and names without any regard for their actual meaning. XD

I see...

Atlas shrugged or just Objectivism? I might actually be somewhat impressed if the computer connected those two. :P

XD I wasn't looking up (or discussing) either. :P They were both in a generic email sent to everyone who has LiveJournal so I'm dubbing them random. ::)

And it is Hindi, I believe. :)

EDIT: Style. ::)

A little quick online research says it is written in the Devanāgarī script, which is used for a number of Indian languages, including Hindi, Sanskrit and Marathi. :)

lol, I get random messages based off of what I search on Google or on what kinds of e-mail I have.

Here's one I just found right now....

"www.choosethesexofyourbaby.com - Conceive a Baby Boy or Girl at Will in 3 Simple Steps with 94% Accuracy."

First of all, I'm a boy, so I CAN'T conceive a baby, second of all, WTF?! Gmail has some really weird ads, doesn't it?

lol, Deloria, you're the LAST person who needs lessons in English. You write it fluently (I've no clue about speaking it... XD) Right now, I have no weird ads on my Gmail, so I've nothing to post... XD

XD Thank you. :P I wonder why Gmail thinks I need them... :'(

IDK, it's Gmail... XD Some things are better left unanswered... Except it is weird that they think you need them... If you did need them, you would be the star pupil of the extremely advanced class. You already know Elde English, which is something that some Americans, like myself, don't speak fluently.

ROFLOL. It's probably gonna think I speak egyption soon! Wouldn't it be hilarious if it showed up as hyroglyphics? XD I would love that!

Doubt it. :P Modern Egyptians speak Arabic (a few might still use Coptic as a liturgical language at least),but the old hieroglyphs are no longer read by any but a handful of scholars. You couldn't advertise in it.

EDIT:
I have seen a few Arabic ads, but since I look up a lot of middle east sites and a few Arabic ones I don't count that as too strange. :P

I got something in my junk mail today. It was along the lines of "email address isn't found for free Walmart gift card."

Well, if you can't find my email address...how did I get the email? :P

XD

I got one recently (they rarely come to my email, since it's comcast. :P) and it was trying to sell me some sort of medicine, I'm not really sure because it was horrible grammar that

was
                                  spaced out
          L
                       ike              this

But then at the end at had a string of random words

written
like
this

and they had no relation to anything in the email.

In my hotmail account I always receive some million dollar bank account scam. It's something like a deceased man left his bank account unattended, and now I'm ellgiable to receive a huge sum of money. The guy claims to be from africa, and his grammar is awful. I just deleted it, as it was useless to me... There's nothing in my gmail account right now...
