Title: Roberta & MoE
Post by: talenos on January 26, 2004, 01:28:20 AM
I lookeed at some fan's interviews with Roberta William's and she was talking about MoE and how it was a King's Quest game and it was #8 in the series.  She made sure to point it out too.

Oh well.  What was she thinking...

I think she had to say that it was #8 in the series, since that was probably the biggest selling point for the game.  If MoE didn't have "King's Quest" in the title, I doubt it would have sold as many copies.  ::)

and probably talenos... maybe she wasnt thinking at all ;D

I think she was being treated like a slve and they told her how it would be, what it had to be like and when it had to be completed.....................................and they probably said it has to be named KQ8 :o

hey that could actually be true, sort of like sierra made demands over it (specific ones) and that's why the game turned out the way it did, that could actually be true :P

we will never know I guess :D

Hasn't it been pointed out in a previous thread that Roberta Williams had plans for MoE that were consistant with the KQ series, but that, unlike in previous games, she didn't have complete control over the outcome?  Then other people added elements that were inconsistent with the KQ series, and Roberta struggled to keep out the worst and to keep in as much of her original plan as possible?  Hasn't this been discussed before?

Ohhhhh, now I understand why so many people dislike the game.
It's doesn't meen I won't play it though. I really want to know what happens in this game. It will help me understand the need for TSL, and who this Conner guy really is.

With so many people working on it, it would be hard for her vision of how it should be to be clearly shown in the game. i think they should have connected Connor to the royal family, tell us more about him, like who his parents are and just what his relationship with Sarah is, how does he learn his martial skills and I'd like to know more about the mask of eternity, why it has never been mentioned in any of the other king's quest games. Moe should have been connected to the other games.

(Note from TribeHasSpoken: I felt the first sentence was perhaps inappropriate, and deleted it.)

It wasn't 8! It was a side-game, and other countries were misinformed :P

If it wasn't 8, then this project wouldn't formerly have been known as KQIX ;)

And while we're at it, it has been officially claimed by Sierra and VU to be the 8th game in the series.. :)

Just thought I'd mention - the official title for Gabriel Knight 2 is "The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery", and the number '2' can't be found anywhere on the box (except for the barcode :P). Still, I doubt anyone would argue it wasn't a sequel, or wasn't marketed as one. This just goes to show you can't use the title arguement to discredit MOE as a KQ sequel.
However, everything else is fair game

Besides, Storm, the title on the box for the next game after The Beast Within definitely said Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned
