Option 7: None; I have no skills whatsoever!
votes: 3
This should be interesting since I still don't quite know everyone's talent. ;D
I'm going to have to go with Programming, even though I've only made a few games before (and definitely nothing as complex as KQ9). 8)
LOL WTF WHERE IS DESIGN AND PR AND STUFF
I feel neglected, its obvious to know what OUR skills are neil :P
I mean... look around :D
yay!! :D
Hmm. Depends on what you mean, exactly.
I'm good at things like organizing, proofreading, continuity checking, that sort of stuff, which would be useful to a team making a game. But I don't have any creative talent for actually *making* any part of a game.
Peace & Luv, Liz
Naturally, I'd have to go with "no skills whatsoever"... :P
But if you force me to choose what I least suck at, I'll have to go with programming. I mean, I'm supposed to have some offical education in that field (as opposed to all the others) :P
I'm good at a lot of those things, I'm only lacking in time. ;)
lol that's the spirit bushie! :D
I believe we missed design and programming neil :P wtf wtf :D
You know, actually, I'm with Storm. This poll isn't very good to the self-esteem, you know. ;)

lol Programming's there! :o Design... hmm that could be pretty broad category cuz it could mean programming, art, writing, etc. Actually, anything that is created is from a conceptual design! :D
Jeysie, the skills you listed could go under Writing and/or Programming (the proofreading and continuity checking are a part of testing ;D),
Also, don't forget, this is about
any kind of computer game. ;D
And Storm, we've seen your fan fics and your artwork... you
certainly have skills! 8)

Thank you, Yonkey!! :D
But what artwork are you talking about? I don't do those :-\
Hehe, I'm talking about the coloured art you did of Edgar & Alex in the Fan Art Gallery forum. :D
Oh. That's just coloring someone else's art - I don't do art myself :P
I rather obviously picked Story/Writing.
And I think we all know Mike falls under "Renaissance Man" ;-)
Storm, why don't you apply for the colorist job we have open?
I definately agree about Mike! we've all seen his wonderful work... is there anything this guy CAN'T do? ;D

That would be too important a task to give to me :-\ I just dabble. That way I don't have to be any good :P
Besides, it would spoil the game for me ;)
I'll only give the game spoiling reason. Because you rock at the coloring and are already good. :P
mike has no category he goes further than that! lol, he is indeed super mike
Does he have a cape and wear his underwear on the outside of his clothes?
Peace & Luv, Liz
Yes, and he has a Mikecave with a Mikemobile hidden somewhere. 8)
In the world I come from (newly arrived at this one...yea and they lost my luggage) folks would say I was good at the people management thing…being a Stage Manager. I think the cooperate world calls that HR…sounds sort of scary. Donno I like to make lists of stuff…
It’s not on the poll either so I guess I’m off the hook!
;)
it's alright eric, you are in our side :P
Say,
Did you find my luggage?
Stage Managing, eh? I guess that puts you in the field of theatre, eh? I find that immensely cool...eh. I happen to be an actor. Being a stage manager is a tough job. To this day I'll never understand how people can actually want to do it.
As for me, I picked story writing, for obvious reasons. At best I'm decent at art, I can play the drums but couldn't work MIDI to save my life, and to top it all off programming and graphical design are two languages my brain is unable to learn. It just ain't happenin'.

Well, yeah, but I can't actually create anything. It's not anywhere near as interesting. :(

Did you find my luggage?
I bet it ended up in the same place as all the Left Socks Put in the Dryer.

Lost socks? Perhaps we should start a lost & found thread.
EXAMPLE:
I've lost my sanity (don't worry it was a while back)
I've found a job that takes me away from posting on this forum and generally being geeky on the net as much as I want!
Whoever finds my sanity or wants my job should be in touch right away... What else has been lost around here? :D
I lost my common sense, I've been completely irrational lately. :P

would be good to try, but that's not going to give us our sanity back :P

Cesar's humble, but that one was lost even before I met him :P I dont think that's ever coming back either, he is obnoxious now (see neil! I used the word! :D)
... just kiiiiding everyone knows I love cesar... he is my ex or something lol
Say,
Don't worry about my job, just my day gig...then again if they heard me say then Mr. Paycheck and I might not be friends anymore... :'(
Such is life...
so you hate that job and you luv this one? :P
and dont worry about Mr Paycheck! I promise I wont say a thing! :-X
Well i'm supposed to be a good programmer since I almost graduate... but if its a strong suit ;/
WELCOME TO OUR FORUMS BRRR!!!! :D
brrr sounds secsay, like ggrrr :P
what kind of programmer are you? btw if you already have a field then you (of course) are specialized meaning if you are not good you will be ;D
Welcome Brrr!!!
Thank you for your welcomes ; )

Why thank you, that is nice to know... if you like, you can always (well, perhaps not allways) call me ggrr ; )

what kind of programmer? ...guess I'm not really specialised. I've programmed in a few languages (VB(A, 6.0, .NET), JAVA, C++(liked this one the best))
My remark about my programming skills (whether or not it would be a strong suit) was primarily made because all my friends don't think that programming is something positive ; /

You gotta be creative! This is where you start pulling out examples of how programming is important, from the obvious things like computers and the Internet, to things like air traffic control, space travel, and 911 emergency response systems. Computers are everywhere, and you can't do much with a computer until somebody programs something for it. :)
Peace & Luv, Liz
So true Jeysie, it is everywhere and it is an important part as well. That means I dont believe I agree with your friends Brr, geez, I believe programming is as important as anything else, part of many features and sometimes without it, things just wouldnt work! haha as simple as that :P
OMFG I think I r going to callz ya grrz ;p sounds secsay! ;D hahaha :) :D, so far I must admit its one of the cutest/original names in our members list ;P
Jeysie & Say you're totally true, I agree on the importance of programs (and thus programmers (that makes me kind of important too, ...right? )), although I wonder sometimes how it would be like without them... ; \

ANDWTFISWRONGWITHGRRRZ ;P
its cute, lol ;D
Yeah, that would be cool wouldn't it? ..Well perhaps not cave-time, but I do think that ppl are far too dependent on computers nowadays... wait if I start to go on like this I'm going to get unemployed ; /
hahaha Im an internet/pc - junkie, I admit it ;D
Same here ; ) though I sometimes wish I wasn't, cave-time does sounds appealing to me. Although I woudn't be able yo play any computergames anymore <sigh> guess I have to wait till I finished KQ9 ; )
Or perhaps I would be the first cavedweller with a laptop.. ; )
*runs to the store to buy some batteries*

I can't program to save my life ;). Oh, and don't ask me to write lyrics for a song - they'll come out sounding like some 14 year old school girl's/boy's diary entry -
I love her so,
I want her to know,
She is my star,
she shines so far.
She makes me smile,
for awhile,
when I'm with her.
But my smile fades,
when she's away,
I really miss her.
Pretty pathetic, really :P.
Thank you all for your lovely compliments! You just made my day! :D

I'm not sure it's so much that it's bad to depend on computers, as it is that we're so used to depending on computers that we no longer see the value in learning the "old-fashioned" way of doing things as a fall-back measure. Sometimes a little skepticism and mistrust can be healthy.

"Sprite Creation or 3D Modelling"
I'll take my chances, with sprite creation.
