King's Quest IX to King's Quest XP!!  Hahahaha :suffer:

I think I know which one's I'm not voting for, but still haven't decided on which one I will.  ;D

By the way, don't forget to read this thread (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=33;action=display;threadid=760) for info on the new Weekly Poll rules. :)

I voted for the very last option. I think at this point, having Sierra come back in anything similar to their old days form is impossible, and maybe even no longer viable. Besides, Ken and Roberta are probably happy to retire. ;)

Selling Sierra to the Adventure Company is a quaint idea. But  Sierra has a lot of non-adventure titles now, some of them which sound quite good, and it's unfair to deprive the fans of those series.

I'm not even going to comment on M$. :suffer:

Vivendi, keeping the adventure game rights? Shyeah, right. Like they know what to do with them, given the show they've made so far. :P

AGDI makes great games, but I doubt they're the only ones who can do so. Who knows if they even want to do anything with Sierra properties besides remakes?

So, let Sierra stay where it is, but let the original series creators get their games "back" to use or sell back into production as they see fit.

Peace & Luv, Liz

thank you! :P

I agree too on the fact they are holding rights with no meaning whatsoever, because I do find it difficult they could pick up from where they stand, they would have a lot to consider before making that back to what they were.

"Vivendi should sell Sierra to Microsoft, where they'll make King's Quest XP which won't be compatible with anything older than 3 months"

If Ken Williams became CEO, wouldn't Sierra still be under the thumb of Vivendi though? ???

Unless Sierra became an independent company again...

Im not quite sure what -really are the legal bonds there-but one thing I do know, if sierra merged or fusioned with vivendi its exactly cuz they dont have either money strenght or market strenght either way this means they couldnt keep on going on its own, which leads me to think I dont believe sierra going "solo" again ever, in bussiness once this happens it would be 10 times easier for them to just go get a new name and start fresh new, and even so that wouldnt be "sierra" per se.

Seems like most of us voted for the last option :).  It's a nice option.  I would love the old adventure series to come back - but I don't care who makes them - giving them back to the original creators would be awesome (Jane Jensen - you hear me?!?!?  We want another GK game!!!! :).

As far as Vivendi/Sierra - I'm looking forward to Half-Life 2.  I'm going to upgrade my system so I can play this puppy! ;).

A different spin on the idea of the series creators being able to buy, or otherwise reclaim their intellectual property, how’s about some other group make a bid.  Wasn’t it Ted Turner who bought up half of the Hollywood classics? I want to say  â€œCitizen Cane” was one of them (my fact checker is out of the office so I’ll lay it down as a “maybe”).

So here’s what I say… Somebody should get together a group, find a pile of money (it grows on trees) and a lawyer and see if at least if the “King’s Quest” franchise can’t be bought off of Sierra/Vivendi.  After that it could be given back to Roberta in total or simply left in the care of somebody who at least make the games available for retail again or free download ideally after redeveloping them for use with modern systems.

Ideally a fan group or company that would not be hostile to fan work would be best of course!  I have no idea of this kind of thing has been tried and it smacks of “pipe-dream”, but it’s worth kicking around the break-room...

PS: If anybody does have said “pile of money”… I’d be more then willing to help them spend it on “King’s Quest” or anything for the matter. Just cause I’m a stand-up guy like that.
 ;)

There should be the option where Vivendi kill them all, and no one ever hears about Sierra again XB
