Look guys!!!

They DID make a speech pack after all!!! Ain't it cool!!!!!! And all that time they were just messing with our heads!!!!! WOW!!!!
It would be soo cool if it's true, but I'm not getting my hopes up. That way, i'm not pissed if it was a joke, and be even more happier if it's a reality.
Either way, i want to see version 2.0 (even thought I has absolutley no issues with verion 1.1, i didn't need the patch or anything)
You're right, Takarifreak, too bad. :'(
Oh, and by the way, there actually IS a speech pack. Go to the downloads page on //www.tierraentertainment.com and check it out. I'm in it, it's cool.

Dang! I don't see double-April Fool's jokes very often! Supposedly Tierra said that they weren't gonna make it, then declared on April 1st that it's made, and they told the truth on the day of falsities! How ironic! ;)
Anyways, I'm downloading now, interesting how the music size is bigger than the speech pack. ;)
Woohoo! The speech is great! And Graham actually speaks all his lines, too, no skimping! I like the baby pumpkin voice. :D
I can't believe it! This is absolutely ridiculous. And great!
I am thrilled! I definatley wasn't expecting it, but i'm VERY happy with the results (funny, earlier that day, i downloaded ver 1.1 for this new computer sicne I got ALL the bugs from version 1, which didn't occur on my old computer (I just wanted to play it again). SO I had to downlaod it ALL OVER AGAIN! Not that it was bad with my cable modem, and I i'm very pleased with the speech.
I still had version 1.0, and the only glitch I got was seeing Possum still jumping around when it was night and I had already seen her transformed into a vampire. So, I too had to download Version 2.0, because otherwise the voice pack wouldn't work. Not that I minded either, cable modems are great. :D
Oh man, what a burn! I just played that game last month, and I specificly checked for a voice pack but they said they woudn't be making one! ARgh!
Oh well I'm still glad they decided to make a great game better!
I love this game! I really like the voices. My favorite is Count Caldaur. Possum sounds weird. Like that scientist puppet on the Muppets. I also like Neptune.
Finished again, with voices ;D
My favorite voice was Hagatha's.
I guess now the KQ9 team will have to match that and make their game with a voicepack ;)
Who should Cesar voice? Connor? That would be a subtle revenge... ;)
:suffer: I have a terrible voice, so don't ask me to voice any of the chracters. I sound like a retarded English kid. Did you ever see this movie, "The Mirror has Two Faces" the professor in it calls a phone sex hotline, the woman who answers the phone sound ssexy and breathy, then they should what she looks like, she's a sixty something overweight grandma knitting with her freehand while on the phone.
If you need anyone speaking Flemish, I'm your man. :P
I'll keep that in mind, copycat. ;D
Hmm, I know what Cesar wants as far as a voice...but I can't say :) You'll all just have to suffer as he puts it: :suffer:
:suffer: :P MUAAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!! Suffer you, mortal fools, suffer! You shall all suffer the torments of curiosity!!!!!! SUFFER!!! SUFFER!!!!! 8)
Let's just say that if KQ9 won't have a voicepack, we'll all be VERY disappointed (*HINT* Cesar!!! :suffer: )
Don't worry, Storm, it was decided almost when this production began to make a voice pack, so there most definitely WILL be one. However, all the dialogue has to be written first! :P Anyways, I'd really like to be in on the voice pack myself, being an actor and all (and I rather enjoyed voicing King Edward in KQ2+), but I think I heard something a loooong long time ago about them getting a studio to record them in. I dunno, for all I know I could be leaking vital information and upon posting this be castrated by Cesar personally. Whatever. Anyways, wait patiently, and the voices will come.
I hear voices...
"Watch out for that poisonous snake!" -You Know Who (Who)
"Thank you for finding my golden needle" -the tailor
"Uuuargggh!" -The Yeti
"Waahh! Waahh! Wahh hiccup wahh hiccup waahh! Waahh! ..." -those crybaby plants
"Aaaaaaagggghhhhhhh!" -Graham when he falls off of the cliff
;D ;D ;D ;D
I dunno why, but the voices for KQ5 and 6 are the most memorable. The voices for KQ7 were okay, but I played 5 and 6 many times more than 7. :)
6! 6! 6! 6! 6! NOT 5, ONLY 6!!!
How can you even compare them? ok, in KQ5 the voices were memorable, but that's only because they were so HORRIBLE!!!
:o :o :o :o
~Kurt~ -
How did you get to be Tierra's favorite (in other words, who did you have to kill to get your voice in the game)?
More important still, who do I have to kill to get my voice into KQ9? :suffer:
We'll be putting uot the hitlist closer to the release of the game, once we're ready to audition. ;) ::)
I'll start practicing my voice right away (just in case)!!! :D
*everybody run away screaming* :P
Which KQ5 are you referring to? I played the CD version, and I loved the voices... *sniff*
I know the narrator was always speaking a lot, but at least his bass voice was okay, it wasn't grating or anything. And Cedric was a little high-pitched, but I like the owl accent. Am I the only one who likes the voices in KQ5?
Oldbushie -
ARE YOU NUTS?!?!! :o :o
I think the voices on KQ5 (it only had voices on the CD version) are the worst on any computer games I've ever heard! It's been long since I played that game, but I still recall that HORRIBLE narrator, who sounded like he was chewing his words rather than speaking them.
The other voices were equally bad. It was obvious to me when I first heard them that they didn't use professional voice-actors, or even talented amatuers. ):c ):c ):c
I know it's supposed to be a matter of taste and all, but come on!!! saying the KQ5 voice-acting is good is like calling black white. However, I do know that there IS at least one other guy who shares your auditory tastlessness - Vildern! :D
Was Cedric really supposed nerve-grating? I think it was mostly BECAUSE of the voice that I found him so irritating. I don't remember getting that annoyed by him when I first played the game, with no voices. ::)
About the voices - you may like some of them, but you can't deny they are very poorly done, especially when you compare them to KQ6. ;)
I have no memory recollection of me hating the voices in KQ5 so I probably haven't found them horrible. Apart from the fact that my full duplex soundcard has to be switched to monoplex and thus makes sure the lip-synch gets ouf of phase frequently (though that could also be my CD-player messing that up), I found nothing wrong with the voices. 8)
While I'll admit to being tired and all at the moment, I'm rather certain of this one....
is there another way you would pronounce the word "Graham" such that it did not sound the same as "Gram"...? ???
Also...I too do not recall having a huge problem with the voice actors in KQ5, though yes KQ6 was just awesome in the regard; but no ill memories haunt me or soemthing.
*digging up her KQ5 CD to check if the voices were REALLY that bad*
When I played KQ5 and KQ6, I never had a sound card. I always pronounced Graham as "Gray-ham" or "Gray-am". I'd emphasize the "a", rather than "Gram", a unit of weight! :P
Hmm..odd, I wasn't aware that it could be pronounced another way! I've always said it Graham and never heard it said different, right down to the crackers. I never thought it might be an Ameircanized pronounciation.
I checked KQ5 again, and the voices are not THAT horrible, but you could still see they're not professional, and nowhere nearly as good as KQ6's. I stand by my words about the narrator though - he REALLY irritated me, even more than Cedric :P
Also irritating - the lack of synch between voices & animation, the fact that you can't click through the speech, and have no text (especially since the speech is difficult to understand at times).
::) ::)
I think part of the sync problem might be because computers are much faster today than they were in 1990, and the graphics and sound don't match up very well cause of that. I do agree that text might help a bit, and that you could click through a scene instead of the silly warning. But I did find that the volume only controlled music, so you could hear people over the music.
And I am not saying the voices were excellent, although they are pretty good (I finished the entire game in 3 hours yesterday), it is more the scripting that I really enjoy, and the great quips. But I still think Graham's scream when he falls off the mountain cliffs is priceless. ;)
My ears did hurt a bit when I was done, I suppose the voices grated somewhat... :(
QuoteI wasn't aware that it could be pronounced another way!
It can't be. It is pronounced "Gram" and only "Gram".
Gray-ham... Good grief.
Mebbe Greh-um?
It sorta comes out like two syllables when I say it...
That's what I thought. I'll give it is spelled funny to be pronounced that way, though.
Graham at Dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=graham)
Okay, there it is, how to pronounce it and all, and it is in fact said like the word gram.
Gram at dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=gram)
So now we can all be happy and know:)
It is NOT only said like the word 'gram'. It can also be said gray-em, like I always used to. The fact Sierra chose one pronunciation does not mean the other one is invalid. ):c
I guess you could say it "Gra-HAM" Of course, it still sounds like "gram." I knew how to spell Graham from looking at the words on a graham cracker box. :P I don't have a problem with any of the voices, I thought Cedric was cute. He reminds me of my parakeet, the way he was scared all the time.

That just shows you're English, not that you're good at spelling. If you'd ask a Dutch (or Flemish, that's better) speaking person, who knows nothing about the English language to spell 'Gray-em', and you'd get 'greejem'. 8)
In KQ9 it will be pronounced "Gram", like the cracker and how I always pronounced it since KQ1.
Also more information on the voice pack in the next issue of the inventory! ;D
