I've been hearing some comments about MoE (lmao, Moe :P) or about Connor, so I'm just wondering what everyone actually thought of it.
I know it's not the traditional King's Quest, but I thought it was still pretty good. Much more of a modern game style, which is okay. It really was more action than adventure, but it was good to finally have one of the loyal subjects to play as. ;)

Yay :D, your the only person around here who has the same opinion as me ;D, i have always liked it even though it is not adventure ;)
I guess it wasn't bad as an action/adventure. But my assosiation with KQ is adventure... not action.

... I personally didn't like it. Not as an action game and DEFINITELY not as a King's Quest.

I can barely fit into Storm's shoes rant MOE-wise, but I'll try (and probably fail).
I'm not into action games. Not to the point I get headaches, that's reserved for fps'es and such, but action is not far behind. Anyway, when I bought MoE I expected it to be an adventure, so I was truly disappointed when I found out it was an action. I played it all out though, to see whether it had any adventure in it, but, alas, that was not the point. :-\ Kill the monsters, assemble the mask pieces, and that was it. >:(

yeahh, that was my problem too ; ( ...but I guess if you expected an action game (don't affiliate it with KQ) it woudn't be that bad...
or yeah... perhaps it would, I would prefer NWN ; )

Ok, Ok! I'll rant! no need for violence!! :o
Oh, wait, it's an MOE thread... there's definately a need for some violence. Carry on 8)
I myself wasn't deceived into thinking MOE was an adventure game before I playing (maybe only when discussing it on some forum before it even came out). I knew what it was, so I was expecting the worst - and guess what, I got the worst :(
I'm sorry for all those who bought & played the game thinking it was an actual KQ - I always wondered whether Sierra made more money off selling MOE to action gamers who weren't familiar with KQ than it did selling it to unsuspecting KQ fans or to people like myself, who played it simply because of the "KQ" on the title ::)
I know there are people out there who like MOE, but I think they're mostly self-deluded adventure gamers, action gamer with very low standards or a mixture of both :S
To those who think MOE was a good adventure game, I can only recommend they have their heads examined, or spend some time playing the other KQs to understand what "adventure" really means ::)
To those who think it's a good action game - I don't play action games and can't really tell whether it's good or bad in that sense. However, I heard people who DO play action games say MOE is not up to par with other action games released at the time, and when I ask my brother (who is about the only action gamer I know) "why don't you play MOE? It's an action game! you like action games!!" he looks at me like I'm a pathetic little idiot who just asked him to do something totally irrational, like downgrade back to XT :-\
I must admit I didn't suffer too much playing MOE - as a game it was pretty harmless actually, but I would never have played such a game if it didn't have "KQ" on it's title ::)
The reason I resent MOE so much is that it's something like the proverbial "last nail" in the adventure genre coffin - the fact that Sierra's praised flagship series, which pretty much started the entire graphic adventure genre, is reduced to a mostly-action game, shows more than anything the decline of adventure games, if not contributes to said decline :(
I was overdue for a long MOE rant... ;D
Lol, yay for teh Storm! You rock :D
Thanks!! ;D
Is this agreement I'm hearing? :D
Well put, Storm! :D (Agreement in this corner!)

*Covers racx's mouth* What, are ya crazy?! Don't call it a KQ, or else Storm will turn into a big fierce dragonny thing and smite you!
I picked up MOE used. I hadn’t before that because Sierra never put together a Mac version. When my household became multi-platform then I decided to give it a try for $5 no less.
Let’s put it this way, it didn’t capture my attention or even run very well. In my ongoing mission (going very slowly) to replay all the KQ games, I’ll get through it eventually… not too worried about it…

I don't think just one negative review will bring down the score. :S
I put in another one. ;) Might take a bit to get on though.
It is a great game, may not be your classic King's Quest style of adventure, but it was a great game. Why else was it a nominee for Best Adventure Game that year?
Because it had cool cover art and roberta williams was making it soooo excpting good results.
Lol, that's why I'm waiting for you lovely peeps to do the same :3
Most likely because, quite frankly, there weren't a lot of mainstream company adventure games that year. (Most the adventure titles I see for that year came out from small-ish companies, that didn't get a lot of air-time outside the die-hard adventure game fandom.)
If it make y'all feel better, Mobygames readers are a bit harsh on the game. ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz

In my opinion, it wasn't the most horrible game ever. I reserve the lowest rating for absolutely, utterly terrible games. It wasn't a King's Quest game by far, but it was not the worst game I've ever played.

Storm its not that bad >:(, you make me mad >:(, personally i liked it ;D
I must admit (and I have no idea if I've said this before), that the game was not terrible but it was nothing like I expected. Like all other KQ fans, I was disappointed because it wasn't like the other KQ games. But, if a person likes the action part (which I do only if I have the cheat that keeps me from dying! lol) then the game was something they will like!

all of your save files, except maybe the ones that were corrected in the 1.3-patch.

As you may, or may not know, before I ended up at the KQ IX forum(s), I stayed at the MoE forum, first being helped and after that helping others. During that time IIRC, I don't remember anyone who could not pass a glitch in one saved file by starting again from an earlier saved file. Besides that, Kimmie has saved files available on her website. ;D

Quote from: Storm on March 27, 2004, 05:10:05 PMWhich do you get more on the MOE forums, MOE lovers or MOE bashers?
Nowadays, I only visit the general KQ forum, not the MoE forum anymore so I think on the MoE forum itself there are still more MoE lovers. On the general forum, I think it's a bit more even. You see, every time I put a MoE bashing post (about it not being a KQ* game), one or two would reply that was not true, and one would agree with me. All the other members didn't really bother one way or another. 8) Once there was another MoE basher, but that was because of the lousy graphics, but he seems to have left. :-\

Apparently the infrastructure (if you can call it that) is 'on loan' by Vivendi Universal and whilst they don't interfere in the running of the board itself, they have set some guidelines. One of those guideline is: don't talk about fangroups/-sites creating KQ-games (so you can't talk about Tierra either.)
