:stabs: MATLAB
What is MATLAB, if I may ask? You often mention it.. in negative terms. :P
Simply put: Matlab is a scripting language that basically turns one's computer into a (graphing) calculator. The problem is that the syntax is deceptively simple. It's very problematic and painful to debug when the way one thinks the syntax works is off by just one little symbol here and there...

Unfortunately no. Matlab is widely used for scientific research simply because it exists between a calculator and say an actual programming language. On top of which, I've only had MATLAB, so I won't be whipping up the necessary code in IDL or some other language any time soon.

Lol. XD That is in most cases a far better alternative. Unfortunately, my work right now mostly consists of processing large data sets into plots or crunching out new data. Basically, MANIPULATION CODE + FOR-LOOP CODE (to have it run over the entire data set) is the structure of all of my code. :P

Unfortunately. Migraines and chronic headache since middle school. Though fortunately the migraines (at least the bad ones with aura) have become rare, only once or twice a year.
Shudders. Eeew, the aura. I know that all too well--migraines and I have been up close and personal since I was also in junior high. I'm so sorry. I hope your head feels better...nothing quite like the day-after tenderness in your temples after you get one!

What I meant was that the console versions have technical limitations compared to the PC version, probably to keep the framerate stable, but whether one can endure those limitations I guess is personal preference.. or err.. tolerance.. since they mainly deal with the camera in-game and it's adjustability. :P

Wish I could do that; it would be nice to give back after I had to be the recipient of so much, but alas it is not to be. :-/
Though I've had no transfusions in the recent past, I also cannot donate. I've been tattooed too recently. :P
Aww. I'm anemic, so it's rare that I can be able to give blood (I got deferred the last two times I tried) but today it worked out wonderfully. The needles hurt a LOT less than I thought I remembered. XD

Ugh, it sucks to get deferred! I hadn't eaten lunch yet once when I went to donate (I was surviving off of a mocha), so they turned me away. :( Congrats on a successful donation though, Kelsey! It always feels good to give blood. (On the inside, of course. ;D)
Yay Kels! I haven't tried to give blood in years because the time I did, I clotted before they could get a full pint!

March is always the hardest month to get through, however this year has just been one blow after the next. My grandmother gets sick the three week of January, I loose four chickens in the month of February, TSL gets shut down, my dog gets hurt, she may need surgery on her left knee for a partial ACL tear or Meniscus tear. Hopefully I can turn it around and the dog did enjoy the company, she hogged the mat and blanket we were using.

Both of my dog's back cruciate ligaments tore. He's too old to put under anesthesia, but he still gets around okay with the occasional slip. :-\ I hope your dog recovers well.

Cinnamony deliciousness. :D They're yummy, chewy cookies. Here's Betty Crocker's recipe:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose or unbleached flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

My problem is I don't mind doing actual work, but I hate studying. Especially Comp Sci where there's so many little details that in a real job you'd just look up in the api. I think I still have an account on Flaschcard Excange, though, which I might try for the next quiz; then I can just copy directly from the api to the flashcard. Good idea Cat!
Glad to help! When I'd study, I'd hold all the cards in one hand, and go through them. As I had them memorized, I would put them on a pile on the desk. If I missed it, then it went back into the pile in my hand. That way, the ones I had the most trouble with, I kept going over and over. :) Hope it helps!
FlashcardExchange lets you do exactly that. They also have some complicated system for long-term memorization, but I never use that. :P
Ahh...actually didn't know what FlashcardExchange was :P I did everything by hand. Granted, I memorize well by writing and sight, so making the flashcards worked will for me.

The game or the system? :P System's cool though won't get to see the really neat stuff until we get it hooked up to the Internet, which won't happen until we move into our new apartment May 29th. Won't get to use it much till then either since I'm keeping it at my parent's house for now.
Game's really morbid but I like the interface and I've gotten caught up in the story (want to find out who the killer is).
-Just waking up.
-Trying to decide what to do today - play or work.

-possibly having something of a breakthrough in a numrel problem :D
-but ya know... hat-eating if it's really this simple ::) XD ...I wonder if the Mad Hatter would let me have one of his?
You wouldn't want to eat one of the Mad Hatter's hats. The mercury would make you nuts!
ahem... nuts-er... please, I am in an asylum afterall. *sips his imaginary tea from the perpetual tea party at perpetual tea time*
OH, forgive me! So wait, you'd probably be good eating one of the Hatter's hats. Reminds me of the Sorting Hat's song:
Oh you may not think I'm pretty
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
a smarter hat than me.
- waking up, sloooowly....
- cleaning the wheels of 'y skates, ohh I do hate wet roads :-\
Wow, what time is it over there? It's 12:47 a.m. here, and I'm getting ready for bed!

Because that implies there's only three sexualities and there's no "gray area". According to that chart, you must be gay, bisexual, or straight. And, if you are bisexual, it indicates that you are evenly attracted both genders, which is almost never the case.
There is a grey area, it is called bisexual! the other 3 are quite clear (beeing able to say no to one of the questions makes it easier to put a 'label' on a person it seems... ::)) it doesn't indicate you are attracted evenly to both genders, there is no measurement in it, it is just a flowchart that helps you find out in what 'area' you are. If you are really sexual attracted to women and only moderately attracted to men you end up in the bisexual area, shouldn't you? :-\

Not exactly. I've discussed this at educational length in the past. There certainly is a gray area, and I'll argue that it's
not bisexualism.
Take for instance this guy:
(http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/th.cf305d3f77.jpg) (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?cf305d3f77.jpg)
And this woman:
(http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/th.27ed242043.jpg) (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?27ed242043.jpg)
People attracted to these two individuals have a gray area of sexuality. That is because that man is a woman, and that woman is a man.
If you saw a man kissing the guy in the first picture, you would certainly believe he was homosexual. If you saw a woman kissing the lady in the second picture, you would certainly believe she was homosexual. They are, however, kissing individuals the gender opposite of their own. Therefore, by genetic distinction, those people would be heterosexuals.
Now if a woman was kissing the guy in the first picture, you would not think anything of it, but she was actually kissing an individual of the same gender. Likewise, if a man was kissing the lady in the second picture, you would not think anything of it, but he was actually kissing an individual of the same gender. However, by genetic distinction, those people would be homosexuals.
As you can see... it is not that black and white. Although, I do like your flowchart, lol! ;D

No, Rob, there's several sexualities. Bisexual implies an even interest in both men and women. Pansexual, for instance, also implies a sort of even interest in both men and woman but also in transgender individuals. Trisexuals are attracted to men and women (sometimes) but are (at least, from my understanding) almost primarily attracted to "genderqueer" individuals (transgender, intersex, etc.) (Although some trisexuals insist that the term actually means they'll "try anything once".)
There's even some sexualities which don't really seem to have a name -- some people are attracted to male-to-females, for instance, and I don't know what to call them.
Btw, Tage, you're fairly correct regarding sexualities but you are a little bit off-your-game regarding gender. The man you posted a picture of (the one who looks like a man, that is), is Buck Angel -- who is a female-to-male transgender. He's transitioned (even though he did not undergo any genital surgeries) but lives his life day-to-day as a man. It's incorrect to refer to him as a woman. Buck is (I think?) pansexual but were he only attracted to men, he'd be homosexual.
I know you were talking biologically (in which case, you're right) but sexuality tends to work according to gender rather than to sex so I felt that further explanation was necessary.
I don't know who the woman you posted a picture of is, but she's probably transgender as well so the same goes for her. (She might be a drag queen though, in which case she's only referred to as a woman when in drag and a man kissing her would be gay.)
-wondering if Rob followed all of that!

Haha, quite the catchy argument, I do have a problem though. Namely;
If I was sexual attracted to that woman (calling it a woman because he looks like it) without knowing she was a man would that make me gay? From my point of view I would be attracted to a girl, not a guy. We are actually entering a discussion of when a man is a man and a woman is a woman (yay for intersex!) instead of defining someone's sexuality. That is something completely different
Quote from: crayauchtin on May 09, 2010, 02:47:17 AM

Actually, Bisexual does not mean that you have an even intrest in both, it just means you have an intrest in two, asexual in non, pan sexual in all and poly sexual in many.
Pansexual do not want to make a distinction between different kind of genders and don't agree there are only two (that is something bisexual do implicate) mostly used/introduced by transexuals who do not wish to be labeled as man/woman. So I suppose that is the political correct term to use for bisexual anyways.
However, I am not political correct, and quite simple because am still trying labeling people as man/woman (o hai hermaphrodites and other intersex possibilities ::) :-\)
which makes it come down for me to;
If I am a guy and I like men but not women -> I am Homosexual
If I am a girl and I like women but not men -> I am Homosexual
If I am a guy and I like woman but not men -> I am Hetrosexual
If I am a girl and I like men but not woman -> I am Hetrosexual
If I neither like men nor women -> I am asexual
If I like both men and woman -> I am bi/poly/pansexual
Because seriously, if we do not try to 'label' people as men and woman, then there is no difference between sexuality at all, there is no pansexual, nor hetrosexual or homosexual, we are all just 'sexual' and there is no need to be confused about ones sexuality (so be glad Rosella!) since it is one big pile anyways!
ps. I think Trisexual is more a funny term then an established sexual orientation
