Title: Off-Topic Sticky Threads
Post by: Yonkey on March 06, 2010, 10:57:48 AM
I'm going to be creating the new Off-Topic board soon, and rather than having Isle of Insanity, Polls and Off-Topic as separate boards, I am planning on merging them all into one.

There was a reason for keeping them separated at one point, but I know it used to confuse a lot of people. :P Most forums just have one Off-Topic board.

Anyway, having one board with 11 sticky topics is a bit unfair to the others, and rather than me deciding, I wanted to ask you which of our currently sticky threads are your top 3 favourites? XD

I voted for What Are You Doing, TSL Asylum, and Newcomers Introduction.

Oh, right, I guess I should say the ones I voted for too.

The Official General Chat Thread - I remember a bunch of people saying they wish they had a thread to just chat about whatever, useless and useful conversations alike. :P

The Word Association Game - I'm a bit biased on this one since I was the one who originally brought this game to TSL to begin with years ago. :P  But yeah, I like it because it's a quick and easy way to up your post count! XD

The GOOD & BAD Thread - I don't usually post here, but I know most, if not the other forum regulars did. :)

Right now?

Asylum, because it's pretty much a staple of the forum.

Lost and Found thread, since we've had a fair few people come back with the bad news.

Newcomers Introduction Thread because, again, we've had a lot of new people come back in wake of the bad news.

TSL Asylum, What Are You Doing, and Official General Chat.

Sure, or overall.  Doesn't really matter how you decide.  The really popular threads will roll to the top regardless, and I might end up stickying a few more than 3 accordingly. :)

The Ugly Mug Thread - nice to see pictures of fellow forumers, also good to keep it sticky since picture threads sometimes tend to not be posted in for quite some time and then you have to dig it all up again!

The TSL Asylum -  ::) ::)

The Lost and Found Thread - Humm, didn't I started part one or so ages ago?   :-\

The TSL Asylum -  ::) ::)
Of course we need the Asylum!  It's been a staple on the forums as long as I've been here!

I figured

Newcomer Intro Thread -- makes it easy for them to find even if there hasn't been a newcomer in a while

General Chat Thread -- because that's kind of what the whole forum is about

and...

TSL Asylum -- it's a staple of the forums, it's referenced in nearly every off-topic thread and in tons of signatures, it should always be easy to find.

All the other threads are active enough they don't really NEED to be stickied anyways, they're gonna stay near the top (first two pages!) til they get locked and a new one gets started,  y'know?

That's what I was thinking too.  Some in that list aren't very popular but are handy to have sticky.  We'll have to see.  For now, I'll just choose the top 3 faves and we can always change them around later.

I voted on ugly mug and newcomer because both might fall to the second page which would make them less useful. I voted on the asylum as well because that's a large part of the community and new people should get a taste of it.

I figured a lot of the others would be active enough to not fall to the 2nd page.

:suffer:

Good point. I'd change my vote to those then if it was editable. :P

Yea.... TSL Asylum is a must.  Even though I never posted in it, it's definitely a part of the culture that is TSL's community. It would be a crime not to include it as a sticky.

I've now allowed it to be editable, since this isn't a definitive poll.  A lot of you guys make good points. :)
