Title: Daventry cloud land query
Post by: colin on July 02, 2010, 02:12:19 AM
Hello everyone I have a question. I have always wanted to know how the Three headed dragon in KInqs Quest 3 and the giant in Kinqs Quest 1 came to be in Daventrys cloud land. The only entrance is through the cave( as far as I know)  and that would seem to be too small to fit a dragon or a giant. I suppose the three headed dragon could have flown up there but how about the giant?

If I remember correctly, the giant was protecting the chest of gold, which was stolen by a witch (according to the manual). I presume that the witch either created or used cloud-land to hide the chest and keep it safe from would-be adventurers, and threw in the giant for good measure. The specifics seem kind of strange (picturing a levitating giant is a bit weird) but if the witch had the power of magic then I guess anything's possible.

According to King's Quest Companion the Great Mountains and the Land of the Clouds are the home of giants and dragons (note the plural). Cloud Land is apparently a giant overhang piercing the clouds coming off one of the peaks of the Great Mountains. Graham only saw one part of cloudland apparently, as there are apparently other giants and dragons that live up there (other than the Three-headed dragon that came from afar). Either that or the video game is limited by scope and scale to show how vast the Land of the Clouds really is. You might have noticed cloudland was actually missing half as many screens in King's Quest 3, than it had in KQ1. Three screens instead of six (or seven).

As for moving around the mountain tops, its probably not that difficult for giants (they must be great climbers). Most dragons can fly.
