Title: The "Unofficial" Unofficial King's Quest IX bowling team!
Post by: etgadsby on March 11, 2004, 09:16:55 PM
Hi! It’s my fifty second post, now I’m a “Silly Adventurer” (before I guess I was a very serious one). To celebrate the occasion I’m founding in the "Unofficial" Unofficial King’s Quest IX bowling team!  Having never founded a bowling team before (I may not ever remember how to play) I’ll need everybody’s help and support!

First off I’ll need to know who wants to join up and what their bowling shoe sizes are?

I'll join. ( I haven't bowled in about 7 years, so my skills should be invaluable  ;))

I can bowl okay, my shoe size is a ten, though my travel money is a bit sparse. ;) Any plans for a bowling alley built on a plane? ;)
Title: Re:The "Unofficial" Unofficial King?s Quest IX bowling tea
Post by: Jeysie on March 12, 2004, 06:05:50 AM
I'm not that great a bowler, but I do usually get around a 120 consistently if it's ten-pin. (I'm really rusty now at candlepin, though.) I own my own shoes and ten-pin bowling ball... unfortunately I'm also a tad short on travel money, unless it's on the East Coast somewhere. Then I can bug Harrison to drive, and he would want to come too, anyway. ;)

Peace & Luv, Liz

How does your bowling shoe size compare to your normal shoe size?
Title: Re:The "Unofficial" Unofficial King’s Quest IX bowli
Post by: Jeysie on March 12, 2004, 09:50:44 AM
It'll likely be either the same, or a half-size bigger or smaller, depending on the shoe style. I think mine are a 9, and I'm a 9 1/2 normal shoe.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Doesn’t seem to be a difference, but perhaps folks have had some specific experiences. As I need a ½ size, I usually have to go down to 11 or up to 12…

I'm a 12 and I think they're more or less the same as your shoe size.  I'm not that great of a bowler, my score usually gets worse and worse with each consecutive game.  XD  All my friends are amazing bowlers too!  >:(  ;)

Egads, I can barely bowl 100 in online bowling! ;P

Darn shaky hand on the mouse. ;)

Wouldn't know my bowling shoe size, and definitely not in your sizes.
Once I get into the game, I can bowl fairly good. Can't tell you what my highest score has been though, I don't have the score-ticket. :-\

EDIT: This online bowling thing is rubbish. I can play far better IRL.

Ok, lets look at the current composition of the team =
-etgadsby,Size 11 1/2
-Pindarus, won’t say…
-oldbushie,Size 10
-Jeysie, Size 9
-racx_00, Size 11
-Yonkey , Size 12
-copycat, doesn’t know…
-MangoMercury, Size 5

And The Bowling Groupies:
-Storm
-Say

Ok, now that we’ve ruled out dorky online bowling, I guess we need to find any ally someplace in like Missouri (maybe the most equally out of the way for all) and find somebody to bowl against!  Ideas?

No, no, no. Say and Storm are not being cheerleaders or groupies, we are teaching them how to bowl! So nyah! ;D

And we don't necessarily have to bowl against anyone... I'm sure that there are enough potential bowlers that we could set up a few groups of four to have some friendly in-group competition.

Now with all this support (and travel money concerns) we need to determine what kind of bowling we’ll be doing. It seems we’ve got options:
-Standard (Olympic)
-Candlepin
-Duckpin
-Canadian
-No bowling (for Say) and I guess hanging out at the snack bar and in the arcade…
-And my favorite Cosmic Glow In the Dark Bowling

Let me know if a I missed any and what folks think…

I'll let Racx and Say hang around the arcade and snack bar, then... neither activity suits my personal tastes. ;)

As for me... hmm. Standard would be ten-pin, right? I put my vote in for that, although I could stumble through candlepin if people would rather that. And Cosmic bowling... well, if it's anything like what it is around here, that would be fun. They turn off the main lights and put on black lights and disco balls, and everything glows, and they play disco and 70's music and stuff. Granted, it's a tad hard to actually bowl XD but it's still a lot of fun.

I used to be decent at candlepin... well, used to have an 80 average, anyway. My mom was in candlepin leagues for many years, so I spent many a Thursday afternoon at one or the other of the local candlepin lanes. And I even joined a league myself for a couple years when I got old enough. But then Harrison got me playing tenpin and now I'm terribly out of practice. Can't even get, like, over 50 anymore! :P

btw talking about outdoors activities and stuff, you know, what I actually do in real life (or used to) was to go out and just drive for hours then stop somewhere like a park or a coffee place and read... lol omg yes my life is so exciting! :P and yeah alone, I'm very much of a loner in real life.

I also LOVE to go in libraries :P omg I used to spend whole days sometimes inside looking all kind of books and stuff, other places I adore are BOOK stores, OMG there is one near  in a mall near my house that I can just GO and stay there ALL DAY, well I used to when I knew the staff working there I would probably go now and get my ass kicked out :D hahah, but truth is they had this kiddie area I used to love to hang out, cuz I could pick ANY book I wanted and lay on the floor to check it out I even remember once I stayed up and some little girls came up and wanted me to play with them lol, it was sooo cute and hey, I still got my barbie skills :P, it was adorable lol.

So yeah, Im so boring :P I even like to walk too, I tend to do that a lot, I park my car and walk malls and stuff :)

You think I disprove reading? I had to do a lot of reading to get into this position as Manager, most of the time to learn, but reading nonetheless.
Even IRL when I was young I used to read a lot, almost all the books designed for my age at the local library (which was not too large mind you). Now most of the time I read magazines I'm subscribed to.
As Manager of the Asylum, I also have to keep up with new developments, so I also have to do a lot of reading. And, ofcourse, I also have to read the reports of my psychiatrists, to see the improvement they're making with their patients. So, if I didn't like reading, I surely wouldn't have chosen to be a Manager, that's for sure. 8)
