Dark daventry keeps mentioning it. Is it where you go to the left in the town on isle of the crown and you get to all the tents and whatnot? Or am I missing something else? ?_?
Also, is the death sequence where you dive off the dock or is it something else?
I think that is what he is referring to.
You can die there and elsewhere, gives you same death sequence but different response from the narrator.
There are a couple of new locations... but I don't believe any of them become accessible until at least Episode 2.
EDIT: Actually there is an area that is completely new and accessible in Episode 1... and I'm willing to bet that old school KQ fans that have recently played KQ6 will probably not even notice it's there (at least that's what happened with me). **lol**
I didn't notice it at first either, then I went back through and tried exploring and going places you shouldn't be able to go and was quite pleasantly surprised.
I did have to play another time to find it, but I did!
I'll admit that it wasn't until my second play through that I was able to find it. But I was very happy that I did. It was refreshing to see a whole new location for the green isles.
Who came up with the New Location and why was it added.
I haven't been able to find it.
Try exploring around the Town Square a bit (particularly the edges), a lot of people don't realized it's there because it wasn't somewhere you could go in KQ6.
So I just finished Episode 1 and considering the whole section of the castle and the courtyard that weren't available in KQVI, I thought to click around just in case, and ran into the new area right away! I felt very proud of myself.
Ok just went back for a second play through but still am unsure where this is (or I think I actually may have found it but didn't realise it was a hidden!), can someone give me a direct spoiler. THanks
On the screen with the pawn shop and the book store, try going west.
Ok, went there on my first play through. It was driving me nuts thinking their maybe somewhere else!!! Thanks for the quick reply

No problem :)
Speaking of locations, what happened to the house north of Town Square that Beauty used to live in?
it is not used in the TSL storyline. the house is still there as you can see at the screen with the shops, but you will just walk past it on the way to the ferry (just like in other KQ's you are not always be able to go to buildings you see in the distance)
I was disappointed by that. Even if Beauty's House isn't in the plot, I would have still liked to see it.
If it were there people would be complaining that we couldn't take the roses (if they even still grow now that Beauty's gone).
Perhaps a good solution would be the ability to pick a rose, even if it has no use.
An inventory item that's never actually used? Well, that could be both interesting and extremely frustrating. We could just keep pretending like it does have some secret use (secret secret armor in KQ8 anyone?) and just let people keep trying to use it all over the place. Yikes :P
With adventure gaming, there's no harm in having useless items - perhaps you could just give it to someone randomly for points. It wouldn't really advance the plot, but it wouldn't be a problem if you missed it.
Sidenote: I totally missed this "new location"!
Head west from the Pawn Shop. It wasn't a place you could go in KQ6 so most people don't even remotely attempt it.
Having played through KQ6 multiple times, I totally missed it.
But wow, I really like the new location! I especially like how the camera zooms out so much to give a feeling of scale like in the village of KQV.

This scene was never in KQ6.
I think he means that he missed it because KQ6 didn't have it, so he just autopiloted straight to the dock.

I see what they are saying now. Sorry. ;)

Yes, that's right. It never even occurred to me that TSL would add new locations to the map.
I hope there are more new locations on the other isles...
:suffer:
*thinks*
:suffer:
Their might be. You'll just have to wait and find out. ;)
Yes there will be.
Was that so hard to say? :-\ this wasn't even worthy of a suffer smiley, pfft, teammembers these days!
LOL
Well you already got to see the inside of the Arch Druid's hut, that was new wasn't it? And the garden in the castle? And the :suffer: on the Isle of :suffer: ?
Oh wait, that last one isn't in Episode 1, never mind!

:o Wait?? That's in Episode 2??
who said anything about episode 2? :o
I missed the new area too; it never occurred to me to go there.
I was a little saddened by the side of the castle not being accessible (I wanted to try climbing the vines again), as well as Beauty's house. But...oh well.
Agreed, I really missed seeing Beauty's house.
Well, Beauty has a new home now, and she'd much rather show that one off. ;)
Well, that's true, but presumably her old house is still standing.

Evidently she was the only one who actually did any work around there, so maybe after she left all the weeds caught fire and burned the house to the ground?
Wishful thinking, if that grumpy old lady still lives there.

Technically the building you see through the arch isn't the same one as the Stepmother's House. It's just "another section of the village" according the KQ6 narration. Beauty's house was on the outer edge of that section of town. KQ6 truncated things and doesn't show every part of the village. On beauty's house screen its described that the house and the nearby path lies between between the village and sea, IIRC.
Also the building seen beyond the arch, doesn't have the exact same architecture as beauty's house, no fence and private yard in front of it. It goes directly alongside the street.
I'm playing through with no voice narration (?). Visited sacred isle, couldn't land on beasts isle, ended on mists isle with face in sky. Did I miss an isle?
Like a silent movie with no voice cards.
Oh wow I just saw this thread and went back and played it to see if it was really there. I cant believe I missed it! I would have never thought to go there because there was nothing there in KQ6 :P
But I was also upset that I couldnt see beautys house or go to the other side of the castle where you painted a door in KQ6 :(
Yes I was very pleased to see the new part of town. I just loved looking around at everything even though nobody was around. I look forward to returning to this area in later episodes when every one is open for business.

old topic i know...
butttttttttt...
it would of been able to walk by the house and see that the roses are all dead and maybe the house is ran down, broken, ect ect, since Beauty left... but wasent there someone else in that house too? Her dad perhaps?

::) Silly Ultima, do you not know the story of Cinderella but at all? ;) Her dad died, that's why her evil stepmother makes her do all the chores. She "has no obligation to Beauty," so Beauty actually considers it generous that the old hag at least gives her a place to live.

heh... i thought Beauty was supposed to be "bell" from the actual cartoon beauty and the beast...
am i wrong?
:'(
lol
;) She's a mixture of the two princesses. They included the whole "beauty and the beast" thing because Robby Benson had just done the voice of Beast in the Disney movie.
interesting indeed... i had not known...

Really? I mean, it would figure that the game had been written and planned long before they had the voice actors hired...is this a guess, or did you read this somewhere?
I thought that I read it here!
It must have been elsewhere then. I definitely didn't come up with that one on my own! Hmmm. Let me do a quick Google search and we'll see what happens.
(Posted on: December 12, 2010, 08:42:53 PM)
Maybe I read it on imdb...? In any case, here's a quote from imdb regarding this idea:
QuoteOne of the puzzles is based on the story of "Beauty and the Beast", the Disney version of which (Beauty and the Beast (1991)) starred the game's star Robby Benson
And a fun fact about Shamir:
QuoteThe genie's name, Shamir Shamazel is a parody on the Yiddish words Schlemiel Schlimazel, which in English roughly means "clumsy idiot".
EDIT: 'Kay, Google yielded nothing else for me. :( I'll PM Baggins and see if he knows if its true or a rumor.

thats good to know, now i can go around calling people schlemiel schlimazel andmakea clumsy idiot of myself :suffer:
hehe
Well the disk version of KQ6 came out in 1992. The Cd-rom version came out in 1993.
I think Katie is right. They were desiging the game at least a year or two before that, late 1990/early 1991ish.
So I think its a coicidence, that Beauty and the Beast, and Robby Benson ended up being the the same game.
Thanks, Baggins. :) You're always a wealth of good information!
