Title: Mysterious disappearing note on the Book Shoppe?

In the village, when you view the note on the door of the Book Shoppe ("Closed Due to Tragedy"), it disappears right after you finish reading it!

What's going on here?

I believe this is a classic example of "Nice job breaking it, hero." :P
