I'm so glad that I realized that your name wasn't kingofdoon before I posted this. ;D Happy birthday! :D
Not as bad as "kingofdoom", as someone once thought, lol.
Thank you very much!
Happy birthday! What does kindofdoon mean, anyway?
A few years ago I was trying to come up with a ubiquitous online username. My nickname is/was "Doon", and at the time, I was listening to Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue". So I came up with "kindofdoon", and I liked it because of the half-rhyme. Get it?
Happy birthday!
Aw, the third forum little brother! Happy birthday! Are you legal now? Y'know, to go buy porn, cigarettes, and lottery tickets?
is anyone legal enough for that?
On my 18th I bought a cigar AND a lottery ticket. Of course, the ticket was worthless and I broke the cigar in half and dropped it in the garbage on my way out of the store, but y'know. It's the principle of the thing! *Shrug*
Oh, and for the record, I didn't buy any dirty magazines, etc, though. :)
Yes, as far as I know, I can do everything now except drink alcohol. But besides, smoking/drinking is not something I ever want to do.
Woooooo! Happy legal day, though!
And you'll change your mind about drinking on your 21st. ;)
I really doubt that, but I cannot say anything with certainty about the future. Btw, I can vote!
Wow, that's actually huge. Congrats! :D
Watch out, primaries! And general elections!
Happy Birthday!!!! :cesar: XB
Thanks!
Oh, and a question: why is that emoticon called "Cesar"? I don't see any resemblance...
I have no idea, actually. A few other ones have names attached to them, but I think whatever jokes started that were during one of my non-active on the forums period. I've been wondering about just making them more 'normal' names.
Happy birthday!!!!!
Even though I know in my head it's not right, I always read it as "kingofdoon" and feel a strange urge to sometimes call you "His Majesty Doon". :P
On my 18th.... actually nothing exciting. In fact, nearly everyone forgot about it (there was a lottt going on -- I think there's a few really old forum posts that should describe it all pretty well as I believe I spent much of the day... here! :P) But I've made up for it with all kinds of lewd and lascivious behavior since so that's fine. :P
Now.... the big question... GIFTS! What did you get??
Clothes, obviously, and camping supplies. The real fun is $100 towards Amazon, which I think may go 100% to video games! Yay!
Happy Birthday!! :D

Well, now you broke all of the existing :jester: s, :whip: s, :guitar: s, :police: s, and :crazydude: s. :P
At least :cat: still works! :D
that is one disgusting looking cake, the idea behind it is cool though :P
Is it from Star Wars? Reminds me of the Sarlacc pit...
But anyway, I hope it was great, Doon!
I would like to point out that :jafar: still works. :D
...Please don't change it. XD
And happy birthday, Doon! XD
Happy birthday doon:) I hope you have a great day :)
Rofl. I find it very funny how you give everyone a different birthday cake. Thank you all very much.
Happy birthday!

:o :o :o
You never read Frank Herbert's Dune? :o
I haven't either. I just know it has something to do with sandworms. :P
I have not. Sorry to disappoint!

Oh and by the way, for those curious, this is how I spent my Amazon gift certificate...so excited!

He just started college, so he's going to be pretty busy.
I assume the gift certificate didn't cover ALL of that?
It was for $100, and I bought used, so yes.
Very belated, Mr. Doon, but hope you had a great birthday!
Looks like a good haul, Doon. And you bought a Companion! !!!
Yes I did. I bought the 1-7 collection and 8 separately, and I intend to play through the entire series while recreating an 80s/early 90s gaming experience, and that means no internet. Hopefully I'll make it with just the companion.
As for the other games, I'm really excited for them as well. Has anyone heard of or played "Trine"? I played the demo and it's an amazing game. You can watch some gameplay here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXdwRmiZam4.

No worries, the Companion is so thorough there is no chance of you missing something. There are two different types of walkthroughs--a "novel"-type version with someone (i.e: Valanice, a court chronicler, etc) telling the story play-by-play, and then the general walkthrough that's like, "Go east. Pick up the walnut. Open it."
The novel was an interesting read, but whenever I played the games, I stuck with the basic walkthrough. If I'm looking for the next objective, it's nonsensical to read, "Graham ate a piece of the gingerbread house and noticed there was nobody inside. He then decided to hide inside the house until the residents came back. Blah, blah, blah . . ."
Like I said, it's interesting to read, but if I'm playing the game, then I have no interest in reading a novel to find out where to go next. :P
I did the novel version for KQ 7 (only because it was my first time playing through with the Companion and didn't know there was another version ;]), but for every other game it was definitely the walkthrough. I absolutely could NOT get through KQII using the "interview" between Alexander and Derek. Too obscure! Though, like you said, Diety, it was a good read. Sometimes I would read through the novel versions before bed. :)
What about KQVIII? Obviously the companion doesn't cover it...are there obscure puzzles or parts that necessitate a walkthrough like in KQV?

oh yes. KQ8 is really complicated. puzzle wise, there's a lot. as long as you don't mind the different-ness and combat, you will probably love it! I don't remember there being anything crazy like throwing the pie at the yetti or the peas at the blue monster thing....but I would say a walk through would be necessary at least a little bit.
I didn't know that. I always thought it was a linear action-based game. Never realized there were puzzles - I thought that's why it's looked upon poorly in the community.
