To do that, you'd either have to know a m$ shareholder and/or know a m$ shareholder who agrees with your vision and cares enough about it to bring it intoto a shareholder's meeting (if that's at all possible).
You would need to be close friends with Bill Gate and have lots of money ;B

You mean lots of
virtual money. 8)
Or, better yet, you'll need to be Bill Gates himself ;B

Who would
ever want to be Bill Gates himself? I'd much rather be Linus Torvalds. 8)
I doubt he has the control Bill Gates has over Microsoft... if you were Linus Torvalds, Microsoft would do the opposite of what you want just to spite you ;P

If I were Linus Torvalds, I could create an OS, regardless of what William would do. :P

Yeah, but I doubt even he could make an OS that's 100% compatible with the 9x code :-\
I will try my best and I have been informing people of Microsoft's underhanded attempts to destroy the 9x operating system. >:( Hopefully, they will accept the will of the people and develop a new 9x but I am not too hopeful about it. It is probably a pipe-dream but I plan to go down in a blaze of glory and fight for the rights of the consumer. :)
How are MS being underhand? They've publically announced that they will no longer be support any 9X OS's after a certain date (I forget when) and tbh I don't see what all the fuss is about. I've had no problesm with XP home so far and thats after a year of usage compared to the recent crashes of Me (well ok that was inevitable) and 98 that I had to suffer. Anyway I may try a mac next time I buy a computer, they look nice and shiny <3
I've got XP home too, and as long as I don't try to install an unsupported (old) version of ZoneAlarm it's almost as good as Windows95 OSR2. Never had Win98, nor Me. 8)
pfft... go MS-DOS!! :D
True, MS-DOS had no BSOD's at all, but it was rather limited in the gameplaying-ability. 8)
98SE is used on X-Box because Microsoft realizes it is a better gaming system. A comparison test with a game on a dual boot with 98SE and XP Pro. by someone in the Microsoft 98 gen_newsgroup showed that fewer frames were dropped in 98SE than XP Pro! That's something for everyone to chew on. Also, if you use 98SE to exit to MS-DOS you have DOS although it does not include a full version. However, it should be backward compatible enough to run any games and DOS programs. It will run my old DOS games and programs whereas I tried XP Pro. and I could not run all the DOS programs and games. It is interesting in Brian Livingston's Windows 98 Secrets in the DOS section it talks about how Bill Gates of Microsoft wanted some Windows 95 code in the exit to DOS but they could not have it because they wanted to maintain compatibility with all DOS programs. The final minimal support phase of 98, 98SE and ME is currently set at June 2006. We must convince Microsoft to develop a new 9x because the old 98SE is becoming too ancient for the most current hardware! For example, it will not support hyper-threading. Have a great night! zzzzzzzzzzzzz

I would have liked to install W95OSR2 on this new pc too, but I realized soon on that it would probably be impossible to find drivers for several of the contents of the new pc. I wonder, does 98SE support
HyperTransportTM (AMD Athlon 64)?
Unfortunately, I do not know if 98SE supports the technology on AMD. You could always try asking AMD and post back on this tread as a courtesy to the rest of us.
I just did a bit of browsing and it just seems that HyperTransport has something to do with the speed the cpu transfers its data to the MB. :-\
I have a love/hate relationship with Microsoft. On the one hand, whenever I call for support and help they have been great in helping me out. They also released a Windows Security Cd which I suggest that everyone gets because it is free and will help protect your system. Copycat, this cd may help to close your vulnerable open ports on your system. It works with 98, 98SE, ME, XP and the 2000 operating systems. It is generous of Microsoft to help out so many users. You can type in windows security cd in google and the link to the microsoft website to order it should be near the top. Also they extended support for 98, 98SE and ME until June 2006.
On the other hand, I hope that Microsoft will continue the 9x line. They are so sure that the NT source code is the future that they have not been willing to discuss the possibility that the 9x line has a great deal of life left. I have written to Microsoft on these issues and hope they will have the time and courtesy to send me a response even if it is negative. In addition, ME was made without exit to DOS so they tried to force users to upgrade to XP in this way. Also, some new hardware that comes out is XP only. Microsoft gave incentives to the manufactures to only produce for XP and not 98SE. This is a major reason why I think new mice and some other hardware are coming out that are XP only. Also, new technologies such as hyper-threading will not work with 98SE. Could this technology work? Well, I think it may but I am not sure about this point? What do you think? ???

As I see it, it's the firewall's job to close those ports, not the OS's job. Besides, my XP CD already had SP1, and when I installed a lot of other fixes were downloaded and installed, I don't think that cd has anything else than those fixes.
That is part of your problem. You are using XP. :X See eeye.com for all the security exploits of the NT line. Have you enabled the XP firewall? Do this and try to run another scan of all ports at grc.com and see what comes up.

If I enable the XP Firewall, won't that block most of my traffic? I've seen an XP Firewall in action once, and it didn't last long. Remember, I must still be able to use my intranet. ::)
It will not hurt to try it. I would hate to see your computer compromised by hackers. Check out www.eeye.com for the NT security risks --- also affects XP and 2000 which are both based on NT code

Could you be a bit more specific in the url? I can't find any 'search-'option on the site so I wouldn't know where to look. :-\

True, but I always like to shoot for the moon even if I hit the woodpile. ;)
It is great that we are all unique individuals and not mindless robots. My favorite classic movie is "Its a Wonderful Life"
Sometimes I shoot at the woodpile and hit the moon. My aim is horrible. ;P

Good point and to a cat their eyes are especially important -- hence Copycat ;)

Yes, but cats can
almost close their eyes and still have a good view, whereas with humans that's impossible. 8)
Copycat, maybe you should start a new thread about "Why Cats Are Great"? I really like cats. ;D
