Get with it guys, sign up, and post! Youll never regret becoming a KQ9 forum addict! You might even get accepted into Copy Cat's Asyl- I mean, Hall of Fame! :)
Yeah, sign up and I may even let you join the Mango Alliance!
You know, now that you mention it, its been like this since around mmm december last year and beggining of january, we have a rate of + 1.700.000 hits between january and february as far as I remember, of course by now it should be even more, we used to get like + 60.000 diff visitors per day last year, its been increasing, quite nice isnt it? ;)
We are on a spotlight and I asume after Game Informer even more, the most moved days are the newsletter day, we email over + 670 ppl that day with the newsletter which I asume that like 60% is not a forum frequent :P or site frequent, even so! its amazing how we get to notice all kind of ppl in our contests, meaning they do keep an eye on us.
For example there are days that the forum gets new threads with like 2 to 3 pages and not to mention all the many new posts I find daily (like +100 daily posts or something wtf) also at night and there is another moment during day we get around 8 to 10 users and like 10 or so guests lol, its really nice from where I see it :D
Supah Director Say knows it all :P, I'm always catching up all these things (never stop working ;P) we do a monthly research on sites, the website status and such.
OMG PPL LOVE US <3 :)

its alright to be serious every now and then :P
as a forum user myself I know how horrible are the dead strict rules and how it limitates the fact to provide a good enviroment or community, so I rather supervise them with my assistant and try to keep up with as much as we can around here, to be also part of it (for you to know that even if you dont have the 40 kq9 members around here, the PR director IS aware of your presence and appreciate it as much as to commit to a feedback) but I also try to keep up and keep it nice here, I do admit these forums are very nice, you are nice ppl so its "easy" to keep forum as a nice place to be ;)

I work for a corporate industry :'(
I think that working for the government, though (at least ours) would be worse.
Both my mom's side of the family and my dad's side are a tad odd, but not to the point of being deemed "crazy", I don't think. Although I admit an outsider might find the fact that my mom's side of the family has the ability to conduct multiple conversations at the exact same time to be a bit bizarre.

I'm sorry...I was sounding totally critical...and I didn't mean for that to come out like that! Yes, I understand people wanting to post useful info...or voting on a poll...but shouldn't they see that we hardly EVER post useful information...we talk about how crazy each person is or what's been going on in life...forming friendships as well as trying to pry information about the game out of Cesar, Say, and everyone else working on it!

I joined, because I wanted my scores in the games to count. I didn't catch on about the prizes till later(I knew about the prizes, but I thought it would be sent by snail-mail, like an autographed sketch), I thought my scores wouldn't be accepted, unless I joined.
Also, I was working on a Kings Quest based mod(failed), a few months ago, so I wanted some insight on what you were doing.

ROB'S BACK!! *ok, this was the first thread I saw him post in* :P *huge huggles to Rob*
I don't think there was a first thread that drew me into the forum. I know my sister and I had found the website back last year (or maybe it was year before last) some time (I think it was when there were hardly any updates on the site). Anyway, I eventually joined the forum, just to get to talk with people working on the game.
I honestly don't remember how I first found the site... actually, I know I "found" it twice. Once way back when things were in a stall, and then again later after things had gotten into re-swing again. Prolly saw it on the Subspace Channel or on an adventure games site, or something.
Anyhoo. Usually when I join a forum I post as a guest for a while to see if I'd post often enough, and what sort of response I'd get to my posting style. In this case I just sort of lurked for a few months until I decided that there were enough things I wished I could reply to that I might as well register. Congrats, this is the only forum I've ever joined where I didn't know the crowd and I couldn't post as a guest first. ;P
IIRC, my very first post was where somebody was curious whereabouts Josh Mandel lived, and I mentioned that last I knew, he was in Upstate New York. (shrug) Of course, that was last August, so all of my early posts got lost in the server crash! XD (Yes, I've been tormenting you all for a whole year!)

Well... the first time I saw this site(in it's modern state), was about a year and a half ago. I didn't know there was a forum, at the time. Although I knew about KQ9 before this site existed(I knew very little about it).
*fast-fowards 1.5 years*
I only read a couple of pages of the forum, before I decided to join. Little did I know... that I would spend the rest of my days as a pumpkin, because of that decision. lol
Let's see...I came upon the forums from Google. And, they looked cool. So I poked around in off-topic to see if you all would tolerate a twerp like myself, saw a bunch of James' posts, and decided I was safe. So I joined and started being a twerp right away. XB
Heh.
Most people don't think they're safe after reading my posts. Odd. :D
I have absolutely no clue why your posts scare them, James. Sometimes they scare me--even after all this time that we've chatted!
But then the newbies see my posts and see that some people are still sane after spending months around you, and they decide to post :P
Most people probably just try to figure out what drugs I'm on! XD
ANSWER: Colombian cookiez!

In other words, don't get on Yonkey's nerves. That might have been what caused my pumpkin characteristics. ;D
I think I first found the site by following a link in a profile on the official MOE-forum. But, IIRC, I didn't join the forum yet (if there was one). I subscribed to the "Four Winds". Then some time later, I notice in my logs, I subscribed to the "Four Winds" again, so I must've returned, and that's probably also when I registered at the ex-ex-ex-ex-forum. 8) If we'd had 'View New Posts' at that forum, I might have used it then. ;D
The forum we had when I first joined was atrocious. Wasn't it vBulletin or something? Geez, what a crappy setup. If we had kept it, and had gained the traffic we have now, I would have likely given up out of sheer frustration.
Fortunately, we have this, which kicks butt, and someday we'll have the Simple Machines thingy, which also kicks butt. <3

The YaBB SE (this forum's current software) team is no longer creating YaBB versions, and instead is working a new forum software concept called Simple Machines (http://www.simplemachines.org/). An online friend of mine installed a test version a while back to play around with, and had myself and a few other people help, and it totally ruled. ;D

Yup, our team is actually using RC1 of SMF. XD
The only thing I don't like about it is that they don't have Super Stickies yet. :-\ It's way too complicated to adapt the ones for these forums to SMF. I even contacted the creator of them but no response. :(

Really? Nuts. Well, maybe they'll include it in some mod or future iteration or something.
This YaBB forum software is very nice, though. phpBB isn't bad, but it doesn't seem to handle read/unread matters as well as YaBB. The only other software I really have experience with is vBulletin, and well...
There's only a few things I like better about phpBB... their more options of memberlist sorting and automatic calculation of posts per day, for instance. But that's really fluff stuff... the read/unread thing is more important to me. One thing I do wish someone would concoct is an easier way to link to specific posts... I don't think I've seen any forum software with that yet. :P
Of course, there's also the el cheapos like EZBoard and stuff, but the less said about those, the better.
I just was looking forward to playing around with the neato features of SMF. Ah, well.

phpBB doesn't have good cookie handling? :X

Who's doing that!?
Jael, Grundy, Knight, or... someone else!? :o

Not me! But then again, I'm
never a guest.
There's a thread on the male to female ratio.

IIRC, that thread was a poll, and there were a lot of members that didn't vote. :-\

Yes, but isn't it the closest thing we have(minus going thru all the member manually)?

In the new forums, it goes through all the members automatically (well, the ones that specified their gender). Giving a more accurate view of it. XD
hav we got more men or women?
No idea, we'll find out when we upgrade the forum. XD
But, the Weekly Poll (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=33;action=display;threadid=1528) for this week should give us some indication. ;D

Not for me, anyway. I've noticed that any threads I open in new windows don't get marked read properly, so I end up having to read all the new posts in a forum and then mark it read manually.
Even more annoying is that if you log out with posts unread, phpBB marks them all read on you. Poo! :P
If I had to guess, it seems maybe it's because phpBB post new-ness is based on the time you visit a forum index, rather than keeping track of posts themselves? ??? I don't know PHP, so I can't say for sure, just a guess on "observed behavior".

How does
that poll help determine the male/female ratio?

That would be no problem, since I use a persistent cookie, i.e. never
really log out. And those few times I temporary log in at work because I just thought of something (and with my mind, would probably forget it before I got home again)... I don't exactly log-out either, I just specify the time for which I want to stay connected. 8)

I dunno about male/female precisely, but it should give a general indicator of the most preferred gender to smooch. ;-D

Yup, exactly! XD It doesn't ask directly what your gender is, but it gives you some idea. ;P
what if...you were a snail or a worm, would u put down both?
I actually don't know who they'd vote for. :-X Connor? ???
:P
Come on in! !!!

o wait, I'm already part of the forum.... :P
Now you're a double member!

I thought the forum had certain 'safeguards' against double memberships. 8)
Considering the large amount of guests looking through the site, now is as good a time as any to revive the thread. ;)
