Title: Happy New Year!
Post by: Arkillian on December 31, 2010, 06:35:04 AM
I'm already 2.5 hours into the new year so I thought 'better late than never'!

Happy New Years guys ^^ Any new years resolutions from anyone? (When your country catches up to NZ ;) )

My sister and I had a friend over for a Disney movie sleepover last night :D We watched Pocahontas, Hunchback, and Cinderella with the VCR and everything (would have watched more but said friend was over an hour late, as usual :()

How cool! !!!  I actually hate Hunchback--too depressing.  :'(  Other than that, awesome list!

I think I'll start with The Little Mermaid.  Been too many years since I watched it and "Kiss the Girl" is one of the sweetest songs ever written!

Megan picked it out - she'd only seen part of it in French in French class, and wanted to see it in English.

Apparently I used to watch Little Mermaid over and over when I was four - drove my father crazy. XD

Oh, with the King's quest picture I drew, my parents asked if it was from that 'game I played over and over again as a kid' XD Apparently I was a bigger fan of it than I thought ^^ I must admit, it was a BIG inspiration to me and my writing. IT was one of the things that got me into medieval fantasy :)

I'm still quite a few hours away from 2011 over here as well, but happy new years to everyone anyway! As for resolutions... Hm, that's a toughie for me. I come up with plenty of things, but I likely would never follow through on them, so its probably best if I don't make any resolutions...

I always give myself resolutions I want to follow through with :) My one for this year was to learn how to colour :) I may not be a pro at it, but I'm ALOT better at colour than I was in 2009!

See, that's a mature and PRODUCTIVE resolution.  My friend Becki made one where she learns something new every month.  It's good to actually have resolutions you want to do, you're more likely to follow through. :)

There are many things i want to achieve, but whether or not I can actually achieve them is another matter entirely. I'm generally a lazy person and have little drive to do much of my own accord. In fact, I used to do quite a bit of writing, but just gave up because I was too lazy to continue... I should rectify that though... Ive had a storm of good ideas lately, but just too lazy to write them down as usual...

LOL, yep, that's how the Seattle celebrations roll.  I have never actually gone to New Year's at the Needle, but it's tradition to watch it on the news every year.  They do a pretty rockin' job!

Fireworks have to be observed in person in my humble opinion. To me, it's like jazz music. There's a certain.... something that is lost in the translation from visual to digital. It's why I work in traditional mediums. Reality has a 3 dimensional tangibility that can't be replicated. It's so unique. Fireworks is like that too. They're never as impressive  all flat on a TV as they are there in 3D roaring in front of you :)

Truth. It's still pretty darn impressive, but I bet no television experience can beat seeing that in person.

But... What if you're watching the fireworks on a high definition stereoscopic 3D television with 7.1 audio surround sound? Isn't that just as good as seeing it in real life? XD

No way! Seriously! 3D can't make up for real life. All it can do is replicate sound and vague amounts of the visuals. It can't do taste, touch, or smell. Fireworks have a smell. They also emanate heat. Fire is a also a primal instinct. When we sense certain things, it triggers primal memories. fires are a gathering point for humans for a reason. They were the life bringers back in the dark ages. It's imprinted on our DNA

((Can you tell that I'm a total pyro ;) I blame it on being a Scout ^^ ))

I was joking... XD I realize that seeing something in real life is so much better than seeing it on a tv screen, no matter how good the screen itself is.

The signature under my avi? Do you mean the text "it's catty-wompus!" under my avatar? (If you can't tell, I'm having an idiot day. By that I mean that I think my over-all intelligence has been lowered for some reason... I must have slept funny XD)

LOL, I was initially the one who said (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?topic=8844.0) something about it being catty-wompus, and everyone was like, "Whaaaaaaa...?"
