Quote from: death_messages.conGraham is bored to death because the narrator just won't stop now! Yes, death by narration!
Hmmmm... IoS... so where can Graham get bored to death on the Isle of the Sacred Mountain? Or, when... hmmmm!
...I fear this post cofuses me a bit. Obviously you're referring to the Easter egg in Episode 2, but I'm not sure what you mean. ;]
He's talking about a death message in one of the game files. There are several death messages there that are not in the first two episodes.
Oh oh OHHHHH. Thank you, Tess. ::) Silly Haids!

They may not be in the first two episodes, but who's to say about later episodes... :suffer:

I'd hope so, especially with some of the other stuff that's in there :D :P
Hmm, there are ways to look through the game files? I'd be very interested in looking through the narrations (in a sci viewer kinda way), see what I've missed looking the normal way.
If you unzip data.tsl, you can view all the game's files. All of the game's text is in the .con files.
Cool
I didn't realize the files were in there as text. I thought they were all compiled. Anyway, I guess you'll have to wait and see what happens... :suffer:
The text data can be read from them with a text-viewing program like Notepad.
It seems the ending or a major scene from a later episode (involving Shadrack), is in the files as well in the "Ocean" folder. Be careful if you want to avoid spoilers.
Yeah, I was afraid that might be the case, and one reason to not necessarily look at those files now. Spoilers, people!
Think of this as a late Christmas present to you, our loving and adoring fans. Or an early one, if you want to think of it in another perspective. But, it's up to you if you want to have part of the game spoiled. Me? I'd rather wait. Besides, there's no guarantee all of that stuff will be used. In KQ7, there was an audio clip included in the final game of King Graham, but we never saw him anywhere in the game.

Yeah, and it was crazy! That guy voicing Graham sounded like a total weirdo--definitely NOT the Josh or Jason that we know and adore. "Ladies, I was getting worried! You're 15 minutes late for lunch!" ::)
Ya, there are alot of hidden files in KQ7. Including the missing conversation between Attis and Rosella (the scene that was included in the KQ7: Authorized Guide and reprinted in the Companion 4th edition).

What! I didn't know about that! Is there a way we can see that if we don't have the 4th edition Companion?

Ya, its a cool scene. It was expanded on and novelized in the companion/KQ7 authorized guide. An extended version of the Graham scene is included in that book too (it's used as the framing story).
Wow. That sounds like the narrator from Leisure Suit Larry playing Graham. I can't tell you how glad I am that that DIDN'T make it into the game. lol
Hmm, can I glean that you even prefer the professional actor in MOE over KQ7 Graham? ...or am I reading too much into it?
Josh Mandel is the best of course, ;)...at least I'm more nostalgic towards his version. The reason why they didn't use him in KQ7 and KQ8 was apparently due to Actor's Guild union rules, it would have been some kind of breach for them to use non-guild actors...
BTW, the KQ7 actor is Denny Delk, you would know him better as Murray the Demonic Talking Skull in Monkey Island series.
I prefer the TSL version of Graham. Jason Michael Victor got Graham spot on in my opinion... His voice fits the look of TSL's Graham perfectly.
Well, I was mainly focusing on the official voice overs, no intended insult to the actor in TSL. He is excellent. Imo, one of the strongest voices in TSL so far (I have no criticism for him at all, compared to some of the other chosen voices).
Ugh. That KQ7 Graham is horrible.

He did an awesome job with Murray though then :D
<3 Murray
I know Tessspoon... It makes me want to put up some of the info on the Omnipedia already (well timeline related quotes). But I'll avoid doing that so people aren't spoiled. I seriously can't wait to play episode 3 though. ...I could really use a new Four Winds article with substance to tie me over (the Crispin editorials are funny, but don't really give any insights into the game's backstory).

Well, we are working on some things behind the scenes... You'll just have to wait though. Good articles take time.
Wonders if I should include the Graham being tormented by POS team for the 'last five years' onto the TSL timeline? ;) :suffer: :suffer: :suffer:.
LOL, he can't prove anything!

Well, I definitely don't remember what the MOE Graham actor sounds like, so I can't comment, but probably yes. :)
I like Josh Mandel as Graham, too, amateurish though it was. :) There was something endearing about those old programmer voice overs. :) For the most part, I much prefer them to a lot of the over-acted CRAP we see in games nowadays.
MOE's Graham, btw, has the faux british accent, that most of the humans have in that game (the style of speech is closer to the Graham from Hoyle 1 if someone's trying to keep track). "Ye and thoughs". Its very different. Seems to be all part of MOE's tolkien/epic fantasy theme.

Ugh the Graham from Hoyle - not okay.
The Graham in Hoyle isn't even "voice acted" though. It's only text. The character conversations in that game are entertaining to say the least. I love the conversations between Graham and Roger, and Roger and Rosella in that game. They are actually well written, and king's questy. Alot of nods/references to the early games in the series.
As for MOE, no one really knows why Roberta chose faux english voice casting in MOE. I asked Mark Seibert, who helped with the casting, and he doesn't even know, why Roberta went that direction. His speculation was at least for Graham, having it, was maybe because other characters had been casted with that accent.

What would I do without search engines? ??? I managed for 25 years, but I can't imagine going back.
the question is... what would we do without the internet. I don't know how we managed before.

I only lived in the time of the internet, but let me tell you: I'm so happy dial-up is gone. That sound still gives me nightmares to this day...
I actually remember the days before internet. It was so amazing when we had it installed in our house--and what was a "browser," anyway? Isn't that something women wear on their boobs? :P

That's a bra XD I remember first getting the net. I knew what a browser was, but I didn't know that IE wasn't the only one. What scared me was my first virus. I practically needed guidance councillling with it.
