Has anyone heard of Rocksmith? It's this new music game that's theoretically supposed to teach you how to play guitar. I think the idea is that it adapts to how well you're playing the notes and constantly pushes you to get slightly better without overwhelming you. And I think once you get pretty good at it, it'll challenge you to do it without the notes there. Personally, I'm really excited about it, as someone who's wanted to play guitar for several years now but never really found the motivation. I even just bought an electric guitar solely to use to play it. :P

So anyone else heard of it? Anyone else interested?

It caught my attention, but I learned guitar the old-fashioned way. So I could play it for fun, I guess. I also thought that Rock Band 3 was supposed to allow you to use a real guitar as a controller. Did that ever pan out?

I might rent Rocksmith first, just in case I get bored early. It's hard to tell how advanced it gets just based on the videos I've seen.

Well, it's probably not going to start making up songs, so my guess is that it'll just go as advanced as having to do exactly what the guitarist did when he recorded it.

And yeah, there are like...2 guitars that are compatible with Rock Band 3. I think the edge Rocksmith has over that is that you can use any guitar with a 1/4" jack and that it adapts to your skill in real time.
