Rosedragon

I wanna see the Butterfly affect and the Last Samurai. I find it's better to wait for movies to come on video since I have a blockbuster membership. They can be expensive from blockbuster too, but not as much as a theater ticket cost.

Yeah I tend to wait for the DVD/VHS release too, unless it's a movie that really needs a big screen or a really good movie soundsystem. Usually those two types of traits are found in the same movie.
Plus you can't beat the community feeling in a theater when it comes to seeing movies like LotR and Star wars and matrix etc...

How could you not stay long enough after all we've told you!?!? :P

I'm waiting around for I, Robot also...not exactly my type of movie but it actually looks interesting.  Still wanting to see Princess Diaries 2.  I'm sure there are more that I'm waiting for, but I can't remember them! :P

BTW, I love both the X-Men movies!!

I saw the movie before anyone mentioned anything about the credits. Also our movie theatre shut down.

Louisiana Night

I didn't know they'd released it in the US.

Jael

It looks interesting, but I've heard the only thing it's got in common with Asimov is the Three Laws of Robotics, so I'm not sure I'll bother. It's not even out yet in Aus either *pouts*. I hate having to wait so long for releases.

Louisiana Night

You'd be surprised how long it takes them to get to where I live. Longer than in most of the US.

Jael

That's interesting. I'd always thought most movies would be released on the same date all over USA.

Louisiana Night

Released, yes.

The theater where I live, is one room. So the movies aren't normally shown on the release date. I could go to a larger one, but they're further away, and I like the smaller one.

Hey Guys!
( Jael, Racx... )

I, Robot comes out this thursday I think, I'll double check the release date. ( I Work for Hoyts )

We usually get movies only a 1 week after the US, and in some cases at the same time or just before.
Harry Potter 3, we got it a few hours before they did, and the same with Day After Tomorrow.

The distributers are very strict with security and THEY decide when the movies can be shown.
With HP3 for example, they sent the actual film in 3 sections with sperate couriers so if one went missing, the thief wouldn't be able to publish the whole film before its release.

Did you know 2 guys got caught at the Premiere of Day After Tomorrow at Sydneys Fox Studio's Hoyts...
They had cameras and managed to get them into the cinema... They both got fined like $200,000 each!
( Like I said, they are craxy with Security. )
We even had undercover agents from the distributers of HP3 come and do surprise walk-throughs of the complex to make sure we were following the 'proper' security procedures with the film! OMG they are TIGHT ASS!

;)

We also have a theater with only one screen in the town I live in...and they've been showing Spidey 2 for three weeks now!  But there are several larger theaters 30 minutes in just about every direction for us...so all we have to do is make it to the theater in time for the movie!! :P

You unlucky folks, Lousiana and Koko. ;)

There's three "megaplex" theaters in my area that I'm familar with (including one only a five minute drive from my house, although we usually go to one a little farther away instead), and probably about 4 or 5 (I think) more in the area I've never been to.

When I lived in Whitecourt, I would have to drive TWO HOURS before I could get to a multiplex/megaplex.  Stupid Whitecourt.  No wonder I hate the place.
Now I'm in Calgary and there's a bunch here.  WOOT!

I re-watched Ronin last night.  Goooood show.

Small movie theater=walking distance
"megaplex" theater/s=40 minute drive

Grundy

The Hoyts Megaplex that I work out of is a 5 minute walk away!  :p

:suffer:

And I still live in nice bushy residential area...  :D

( Until I move to my new apartment at the end of the week! awww.... )

I remember back when E.T. first came out. It took about 4 months for it to come over the Atlantic to Sweden after having been released in the States, and then it took another 5 years(!!) before it went to video. That's crazy, especially with the speed it goes today.

Yeah, when I was living in Germany, it was a pain in the butt because we watched everything at the Canadian theatre, and the english movies didn't get sent over until they were done screening in North America.
So, by the time we got it in our one theatre on the base, the movie was coming out in video back in Canada.

I just watched the movie Memento again!

What a wicked movie!

I've got the special edition, so one of these days I'm going to have to watch it from beginning to end, but in the natural time line! :D
