a hacker... somebody who interacts with geek/computer stuff in brilliant and creative ways and shares the efforts. Not a cracker, somebody who can't think up anything better to do with their knowledge than break securities to make people's lives miserable.

I know the difference, I'm just trying to keep within eyesight of Kimmie.

But I've also been told that once he gets to know you, he's not shy at all.  It's just that first step, I guess.

That description also applies to me. Anyway, I once told a female friend she could call me anytime, and it didn't take her long to do just that. However, if that same advice would have been given to me, by her, that would surely have not been the case. I don't phone (easy). IRL, you'd be amazed at my shy-ness.
BTW, I'm an ex-cracker. But I didn't do it to make other people's life miserable, but to make my own life easier.

Well, then, if he doesn't phone, it's his loss.  Because I am NOT making the first phone call.  Who knows, he might be waiting until we meet (again) to decide if he's going to call me.  I guess this is just going to be an exercise in my patience.

Bad idea Cat.  I'd wait a little longer.  You may think the ball is in his court, but it may have hit the net. (Yay for tennis references!)  You should call him.  I shall now list the reasons.
1) What if there was a miscommunication somewhere along the lines?
2) What if he's not really all that confident and thinks you told him to call you out of sympathy or pity?
3) What if he's afraid of phones?  It could happen.
4) What if you make him nervous and he's afraid to call  because of that?

For some reason, my ear hurts now.  DARN YOU CAT!

BTW, I'm STILL not making the first call.  And I'm keeping my cell phone in my pocket all weekend!  He has weekends free and last week was him getting his courage up...this week, the call! *hopeful look*

Q, I didn't say I was giving up this weekend...I was just saying that since he didn't get up the courage last weekend, I'm hoping for a call this weekend!

I'm with Questie on this one, seriously. If you dig the guy, and he doesn't call, don't refrain from calling yourself out of some bizarre notion of being old-fashioned or reverse chivalrous or something. Nowadays you can call a guy *without* a wrong-headed perception of seeming easy or too forward, and if the guy is really as shy as you say, it might be the only way to get an initial response out of him.

Of course, if you'd rather roll the dice and take the chance that nothing will ever come of this, it's your call...
