We were going by names of constellations. Betelgeuse is a star, and I believe it is one of the stars that constitutes the constellation Orion, in fact. I'm not 100% sure though.

To answer your question: Betelgeuse is a name originally given to the star in French, from a corruption of its name in some other foreign language (Arabic, I think). In English it's generally pronounced BEE-t'l-jooze, which sounds a lot like "Beatle Juice", hence the origin of the fictional character's name. In French it's pronounced BET-'l-zhÅ"z, the 'zh' being pronounced like the 'si' in persuasion and the 'Å"' is a sound not found in English and as such can't be explained easily. It's the same sound as the German 'ö', if that helps any (probably not).

Actually that helps ( I was looking for the correct pronounciation, since I was told "beetle juice" wasn't the correct pronounciation... which might have been meant as the french pronounciation?  ) . Thanks.
