Since he said he used Mozilla/Firefox(don't remember which) to test the site, I think it's confusion about the term, not the feature.

It was Mozilla and Opera, but it was more to test certain pages. Dreamweaver has a built-in feature that validates the source against different browsers. So I've been using that to "test" the site.
