or it's someone trying to update their profile but forgot to log in.  

Is that, at all, possible? Could it also be they used a timed login, and when they chose (?sp) 'update' their time was up?

That's possible, but I did a "who's online" and the Guest had the same IP as the newest member.  So most likely the guy forgot to log in and was trying to modify his profile.

Yeah, I can see everyone's IP.  But it's not 100% accurate.  It only logs it when you login.  Since I have the forum remembering my login at home, and only login to it from school, it uses the wrong IP for me.

I have a persistent login-cookie at home, but not at work. So for those few times when I logged in and logged back out again at work, which site's IP would've been shown?

Hmm, I'm not sure since you logged out (I don't usually click that on public PC's since clicking Log Off deletes the cookies anyway).
