Okay, since this is the "Welcome Thread", I thought I should probably post here just to say 'hi'. I've already been welcomed in so many places though, so I won't make a big acceptance speech here for you all.

BTW, I don't know if Charlemagne has posted anything since he first signed up, but I wouldn't worry about it. He's usually a pretty busy guy. I don't know what he's busy with though, maybe golf? Oh well, whatever....

And Neil, I know Kevin is a pretty common name in English speaking countries, but I actually have no acquaintances named Kevin. In my college classes there are often other students with my name, but I don't know any of them. It's kinda weird....

And Jason: Hallo, Jason. Ich heiße Kevin. Es freut mich! Ich habe Lust Deutsch zu sprechen zu. Ich aber spreche die Sprache nicht so gut. Sprichst du Deutsch gut?

I just made up Bürrhîzen, as far as I know there is no significance , but I tried to make it sound German

Thanks for the tips LN, I think they'll prove useful in time. Can't say the same for Knight's misguided idiocy that I he must have mistaken for a witty remark... (j/k, TK knows I just like to pick on him.)  

And how could I forget your name, Say? You've been seared into my memory forever!

And Jason (I think I'm just going to call you that from now on; Bürrhîzen is way too annoying to have to type), glad you actually understood my blithering attempt at the German language. And I must say, you've succeeded in making your name look Germanic; not so much like modern High German, but from what little I've seen of Old High German comparative philological charts, many of the same characters are used, i.e. the 'î' letter. If you can find an older comprehensive German grammar from a college library, you can see for yourself. Some of these can be as old as having first been printed in the late nineteenth century, but there hasn't been so much advancement in the field of comparative linguistics that any of the information will be out-dated. Just in case you were curious.
