Hee! Yeah, that does sound a little funny, doesn't it? But I'm not old enough over you to give you a motherly hug... and "sisterly instincts" just sounds weird.

Oh, and I always give out hugs even when friends aren't in misery, too, if they want them. It's just that people usually appreciate affectionate gestures more when they're miserable... and their jealous girlfriends are slightly less paranoid.
