Yup, the game will be split into 3 parts, each coming in a years interval between. The first part "shadows" can be expected to release this coming winter.

For details regarding the different parts you can go here and read the journal entry that César the project director wrote up which among other addresses this subject.

You can also read the chatlog where this question was asked & answered.

Hope this answers your question, and welcome to the forum :)

I'll pay someone to put it on 2 cd's for me, and send it.  I would pay about $20.

hey talk to me after its finished we can work something out if you pay the shipping ;)

I was wondering ...
Would anyone mind a kind of mail-chain? That would be a good solution for the poor people who have a slow connection and for those who will get killed for downloading it at work or in school (like me :P)
All we'd need is a friendly member of the team who sends it to one person-in-need. This person then could copy it and send it to one or two other non-members in need. This way, everyone pays the shipping for the next one (except for the few unlucky ones at the end :P ) which is, IMO, very fair. I wouldn't mind paying 2 Euros for Air-shipping because I know that it will cost me much more if I downloaded it. (Plus, I'm only at home at weekends, which would make it take many weeks ...)

You may kill me, if you find one good argument (of course the first copy should definitely be rid of bugs, or atleast of the most) against it but if you like the idea, you may send me a pm and I'll volunteer to organize it...

It's a pretty nice idea, but:

This won't happen.

The team is not permitted to generate any sorce of income from this game (even if it's just the cost of a blank CD & Shipping) because we do not own the rights to King's Quest.  However, theoretically someone outside the team could download the game from our site, burn it and they could start this chain-mail thing.  8)

Of course, our site would not be allowed to promote this form of distribution, meaning we would delete all "Who wants to buy KQIX off me?" threads.  So, whoever would want to get the game like this would have to do it all from e-mail and not involve the team or the site.

P.S. Nice signature! XD

I didn't mean that anyone in this chain gets paid for it. It is just about trusting and helping each other (I've seen something like this within another community and it can work ... ).
Of course it is still a long time, but I thought I'd ask it now to see what ppl think of it :P

the sig: You like it? Of course it's unnecessary here at the KQ board (I use it on other boards as well) but I wanted to hear some opinions that's why I use it here as well  8)
But it looks as if the site sqeezes it a little ...

Ohh, so you mean the sender would pay for shipping, postage and the CD themselves! XD

Still, the team and site would probably not be allowed to officially promote this, but maybe we'll allow one thread dedicated specifically for it.  :)

well, it is not my fault that the first sender doesn't want any money :P

so that means that I am not allowed to talk about it anymore except in that thread?

Correct.  But since that thread doesn't exist yet, you can continue to talk about it here. :)
