I lub design! ...I just hate designers

which is funny though is that for example, has anyone here seen q**** eye for the straight guy?! lmao, I love that show!, anyhow, they have on ther FAB 5 group one which does interior design he has to be like... the one and unique I love into that field because every single other I've met I've just simply hate... and probably I like him cuz I dont know him!! hahaha, the indepths of what it really is interior design has byond my expectations myself... I had to work with one when I was Busineess Assistant (that's the fancy title, I was like... the wtfdoitallgirl ) I had to re-arrange the conference saloon... lol I hired someone on the field, I can certainly guarantee you that after 1 week... wtf ONE DAY I hated that guy's gut, I ended up just giving him the money and let him go away do his s*** lol , freaking annoying dude but then again, he did a job, it is amazing how much colors, lighting, and visual textures can do for one room, and it is so hard to know how to combine them all without obviously a knowledge and somehow experience I envy that!, cuz being a designer I dont consider myself a good interior design (hence my previous story on the matter) but its alright I've read like 4373495734 books on the matter now! .... I just still suck hahaha

going back to where I started, maybe we should send the FAB 5 TO HELP OUT ROB IN HIS NEW HOME! hahahaha kidding I wanna go myself!! (even though I suck)

well actually i am not a designer nor a programmer cuz i do not have work in those fields, but serious i was educated with more then programming, lol, if it was only programming i would have been finished in 1 or 2 years (and probably cum laude)

So how many P's, H's, B's and A's do you have after your name then?  

I'm only qualified/certified/educated in 3D, no programing...   a bit too tedious and well, boring for my liking.  :p

If I'm not mistaken, Brrr's major was the same one as mine: Software Engineering. Design is a huge part of the program from: software design (which is something like a 10-step process... programming/implementation itself is just one phase of the process), hardware design (which could be anything from circuit diagrams to high-level circuit board diagrams), user interface design (making the program user friendly and look secsay)...  I'm probably missing some too, but you get the idea.  

A "Computer Programmer" doesn't learn all these aspects of Software Engineering.  They'd probably just learn how to program in specific programming language, as opposed to all the concepts and factors of proper software design (which apply to all programming languages).  

Still, the word "designer" could be a lot of things, in this case Software Designer.  Though profesionally, I'd call it Software Engineer, rather than programmer, designer or something else.

Another reason why I wouldn't call myself a designer is because my sister graduated in Industrial Design and her field is way more related to Art & Design than mine.  Just to get into that program she had to show her portfolio and have a few interviews (all I had to do was apply ).

Of course, she never did any kind of programming in her field, with the exception of her 4th Year minor project (because they had to design a website).  She also did some usability engineering & UI design as some phases of her major project.

All I did in my 3D 'Academy' was... 3D!

Neil is right, my major is software engineering ; ) ...and well, like he said, design is a part of that   (as is programming, and a lot more(iirc ; )

Unless that little piece of paper that you have known as a "degree" and contains the word "Engineering" for your "degree", you're not an Engineer.  I don't give a rats ass what bull$h!t title your employer gave you, it's still misuse of the word.

Why can't you computer geeks just be happy with the term "Programmer"?!?!
