Quote from: Jeysie on July 13, 2004, 07:27:10 PMOK, I never played MOE (and don't plan to)... but AGDI made him sound kind of like a pompous twit in KQ2VGA. ;P

I'm afraid you need to play MOE to fully understand what a pompous twit sounds like... KQ2+'s Connor can't hold a candle to the original Connor in that sense :P

Quote from: Jeysie on July 13, 2004, 07:27:10 PMThe KQ9 folks were a little more gracious, however... ;) (BTW, do we *ever* get a Connor sketch/model? ;) )

I think they have a reason for keeping the Connor sketch/model a secret, maybe even up until the game's release... maybe they don't want me to go all red-eye before that ;)

Quote from: zerogravityfire on July 14, 2004, 10:27:24 AMTell me, Storm, have you played MoE and why is it that you hate it so much? B/c of your passionate love for the KQ series and what they embody or b/c it is just a really crappy game?

Yes and yes ::)

I guess if visiting 4 different threads and liking a few people is stalking, then yes your honor I'm guilty. ;)

No I think I was just trying to say I haven't been to all that many rooms and that's why I don't know her. I am enjoying to read through this one and the official ugly mug thread and silly mug thread though. Man it is amazing how much interesting stuff can be found in these places! There are some fun and spectacular people in here!!

"Intricate = having many complexly arranged elements, or comrehensible only through concerted and intentional effort"

Does that clear things up for you? I mean that there are many things about you that are usually not found in many people and the interesting part is how you got there and how you handled some of the things that have come across your path. You have many elements that at first glance seem oxymoronic ;)(paradoxical) but somehow you blend them together to make and enjoyable an at least seemingly stabil whole.

Ok, I'm not sure I cleared anything up....:/

No, actually, that makes a lot of sense. Especially the "oxymoronic" part. I've often mused over the fact that many of my personality traits manage to be at complete odds with each other. (And at odds with the rest of the universe, for that matter.) I suppose it's perhaps a side-effect of the fact that I tend to try to analyze everything... and my own brand of logic yields different results than most people would come up with.

(Psychoanalysis in the Asylum thread... how wonderfully fitting! ;) )

Although I find myself wondering what exactly I've been writing that a newbie can peg me somewhat after reading just four threads... !

Hahaha... well I may be a newbie in here, but not a newbie in life. As far as what you wrote, that is for me to know and for you to go back and check :suffer:.

Just kidding. I'm sure you know roughly what you have written in here, and if you just know how to read between the lines there is a lot more information in behind the text than in it.

Kinda creepy when I read what I just wrote.... :o

Hee. Well, I suppose I was curious if there was anything in specific I said that made you come up with your assessment.

And since you imply you have a knack for "reading between the lines", are you a science fiction fan? Not that other genres can't have subtext, but IMHO SF is the best genre for that. (Well, fantasy too, but I would think that it would be a given that anyone posting in these forums must like fantasy at least a little, so no point asking after that!)

First of all no there is no such test and I wouldn't subject myself to one if there was.  ;)

Secondly, I'm way too expensive for you to be hired. You see I only work for chocolate.

No problem you say?? Well that depends on the amounts of chocolate I can consume, doesn't it? :D

I do like SF, although I haven't really delved into that world. I'm afraid my interest has only gone as far as movies right now. Haven't read many SF books, so I wasn't aware of the allegorical/sublime presence in them. Is that what you meant was in them or did you mean more of the mystery/adventure type stuff?

I mostly like to talk to people and even more listen. That is what I have been doing, I guess. I've read through the whole of the ugly mug thread and the silly ugly mug. Since then I've also read through a few more. People are intersting to me and I like to listen to what they say and what they don't say, how they say it and how they word it. It's hard to do here but  reading body language gives you a whole world of information. Just fascinating....

No, I meant allegorical/subtext type stuff. The best SF is literary, IMHO... while A/V (audio/visual) SF can be good, the only three A/V SF things I've personally seen that approach literary SF quality are, IMHO, the TV show Babylon 5 and the movies Gattaca and Dark City. (Just because someone might mention it, I'll say that I have seen Blade Runner, and I find it overrated, IMHO. Plus it's based on a book, anyway.)

:) I also find people fascinating and interesting myself. I'm always trying to understand people, and get a feel for how they think and how they see/interpret things. That's part of why I love the Internet so much... it's easy to get to see the thoughts and ideas of people from all walks of life.

If you feel you want to get into reading SF novels more, I'd recommend Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game series... I've always loved his grasp of human nature. (Darn it, I wish he wrote more SF instead of fantasy! :P) And Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein is still my favorite book, for much the same reasons.

Edit: The part of my brain that remembers things told the (much larger) part of my brain that forgets things that it should add The Twilight Zone and City of Dreams to the "A/V SF Praise List". (Of course, City of Dreams was written by the creator of Babylon 5...)

This place is almost starting to seem sane.  Hmm...who wants to talk about sliding doors?  I mean, what is more crazy than a door that slides?  You don't even need one of them new-fangled, wacky, hi-tech doorknobs!

Jeysie

That reminds me somehow of the music video to Jamiroquai's song -"Virtual Insanity". What a totally awesome video that was.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Questing Character

Totally missed that video. Does that group have issues with doorknobs as well?  I tell you, whoever invented them was almost as bad as that guy who invented CD shrink wrap.

That video has issues with well... everything related to architechture.

I found a Flash link that I think will let you see the video... but you need Quicktime installed to view it, so I can't test for sure:

Video Link

Go to the bottom where it says "Select band/artist" and click on "J". Then choose "Virtual Insanity - Jamiroquai". Pick your resolution, and I hope the link works from there. :P

Come online tonight and remind me.  I don't want to start anything new, we're leaving to see Spider-Man 2 in the not-too-distant future.
And hey, I just received summer homework in my e-mail.  Can you smell the excitement and yayness? :X

Jeysie

I'll try, Questie... have to go out soonish and do dinner and groceries myself. Of course, I need to nudge you to read the KQ2+ Cloud Test thread too, 'cause I asked you a question there.

I know this might sound odd, but this reminds me that I wish forum software had a "Mark as unread" feature... would come in handy sometimes. :P
