Can't be me, because I'l not Dutch, and it can't be B'rrr either, because he's not obsessive about using his English properly. Hmmm, someone who's me and B'rrr combined? ;P

Quote from: Storm on April 09, 2004, 04:16:14 PMI may not be a native speaker, but feel free to correct my grammer/spelling... how will I learn from my mistakes if I don't know I'm making them?  ;)

Well, in that case I shall, if I notice any egregious errors. ;)

Thanks! I'll try not to make any though  ;)

I actually wasn't even talking about this forum, but it's probably happened here as well. ;P

Usually I don't write posts that consists of just the spelling error, I make a little story revolve around that fact, but usually the replies only pick up on the spelling part. :-\

Quote from: Yonkey on April 09, 2004, 06:23:05 PMIt's pretty annoying, because the original poster is asking for one thing and the response (and possibly future responses) have nothing to do with the first post.

Right, and that NEVER happens here otherwise  ;P

Ofcourse, it gets kinda difficult to keep replying to the original topic for several pages. XB

Ohhh hahah now I get Storm's comment! ;D

Well, most threads are only good for the first page of responses.  Usually the original question's answered in the first 5 posts.  If the topic is particularly interesting, then it will go on for many pages (of course, not all relate 100% to the original topic, but they're somewhat related).  I don't mind if if a thread gradually digresses from the original topic (they're still easy to split & move because of the conversation flow).

But the instance I was talking about is when someone started a new thread and asked a very specific question, and the guy was misspelled two letters by accident.  The next poster made a joke about it and continued on with that.  A few more people were responding to the joke rather than the original poster.  The poster came back and was like "haha very funny, sorry I spelled it incorrectly, so can anyone help me" and the people just continued with the joke until finally someone 10 posts down answered it and got the thread back on track.  ::)

We also have a random conversation thread, but that doesn't keep random conversation out of the other threads, including this one ;)

The whole Off-Topic forum is one random conversation, I had a feeling it would be impossible to contain it all in one 60+ page thread.  ;D

Besides, that's what deleting messages from the begining of the thread is for  8)

Indeed, experienced members have already read those messages and new members won't read those messages either unless they have tons of free time and nothing better to do. :P
