Bad things:

Realizing that the only way you could be happy is if you could become things you're fundamentally not. :-\

I would take a wild stab in the dark, Jeysie, and say that just means you've only seen some ways of becoming happy. There must be something else you can do, you just gotta keep looking.

Questing Character

If I'm bad at something I enjoy, I figure....the other people can suffer me doing it.  I want to do it dammit.  Maybe try that attitude for a bit? ;)  Just my thought.

B'rrr

yay, so what if you are bad at something?? ...if you like it, just do it ; ) ...I mean , you don't have to excel in everything. If you do something that you like, you do it for the pleasure it gives you, not for the results.

...because if it is the results that satisfy you, you would enjoy doing the things you are good in ; )

Because it's frustrating when you have this idea in your head of how you want something to come out, and then you try to do it, and it just sucks. I've got lots of creative ideas, but I can't *do* any of them right. It's just never what I had in mind (and more often than not it's completely worse). All I can do is look/listen to whatever I created and think "It's just NOT RIGHT." :P

Plus... it's all creative stuff I wish I was good at... and IMHO the best part of creative stuff is sharing it with people. So if you're sharing your creative stuff with people, and people think it sucks, well, what's the point? I don't need or want to look/listen to my own stuff, so if other people don't want it I may as well not bother.

If it's never "just right" for you, are you sure you're doing something that actually makes you happy?  Maybe you've only completed part of that happiness equation?

Well, yeah, I've only got part of the happiness equation... that's the whole problem. :P I enjoy the process of *doing* the creative stuff, it's the part of coming up with a result I can enjoy that's the issue.

I guess it just boils down to... I know what things I wish I had, and could do, and I'd need a whole different looks/personality/skills to get or do any of them. :P

The BAD:  Just returned two of my textbooks...I paid $73.85 for them...I got a stinkin' $39.25 back for them!  Well, I guess it's better than nothing, especially since I won't be able to return any of my other books...but still, the injustice!

Jeysie.....it sounds like you might be a good director.  Have you ever tried that?  I mean, this is coming from a total theater freak, but...
If you have creative ideas but you can't come up with the results you want yourself...directing seems like the logical step.  You have the ideas, you boss people around, and the other people put it together for you.  It's a collaborative thing, and it might not come out exactly as you originally envisioned it, but it ought to still be something you enjoy the result of. :)

I sort of technically played director during a sixth grade English assignment. We broke up into groups, and we had to choose a Greek myth and do a project involving it. I ended up writing a play, and the group acted it out (and I sort of directed/narrated). It wasn't bad, but I would have rather done some of the acting myself. And I think the only reason my group let me do the writing and directing was because I was the only one interested enough in the matter to want to do any major work, heh.

And, just this afternoon:

Apparently my landlord decided to paint the front porch today, and the paint was still wet when I got home. Wouldn't be a big deal, since there's a back door, except... Unfortunately, not only do I not have a key to our apartment back door, but the outside door itself has a slide lock... you really have to leave it open if you plan on using the back door. Gee, wish our landlord would have warned us the day before or something. So now there is a pair of footprints in the wet paint on the front porch.

Part of me feels guilty, and part of me's like, "F*** it, it's his own fault... he didn't warn us, and how else was I supposed to get in the house?" Grah.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Yonkey

They're supposed to put some sort of "Wet Paint" sign.  If I were you, I'd ask him to repaint it since it was his negligence that caused it.
"A wish changes nothing. A decision changes everything."

Jeysie

Oh, he did leave out a "Wet Paint" sign. What I meant was... he didn't give us enough warning so we could set up some sort of provision for getting in the house an alternate way. (I.E. leaving the back outside door unbolted, and Harrison leaving me the back door key, or something.)

Harrison just got home briefly a few moments ago... and he got tripped up too... he didn't have his cell phone with him, so I couldn't warn him to come in the back door. So now there's another set of footprints on the porch.

Peace & Luv, Liz

koko_99_2001

I'm sorry for you Jeysie...it's only fair that he gives ya'll enough of a warning!

The BAD: Looks like I'm gonna miss James online today...oh well...

The BAD: Gonna be home again this weekend... and that means I probably won't be able to be on much this weekend...especially since my grandparents are going to be over...

Ahh, hmm with the previous landlord I had, they would usually post a notice the day before or at least the morning of the same day.  In this apartment, the landlord posted a notice several days in advance that they would be painting the bathroom.

By law, I'm not sure how much notice they should give you, but I would say "reasonable notice" would be at least a day.  :-\
"A wish changes nothing. A decision changes everything."

Jeysie

Heh. I honestly could care less whether there's footprints in the paint or not... I'm more annoyed over what *he's* going to think about the matter. :P Oh, well, if he complains, Harrison and I will just gripe back. ;P

Well, Cat...on the plus side, that means you can go back to the church that Church Jason goes to! ;)
