QuoteI fail to remember this act of heroism by said bird. Besides. If Cedric could survive the bolt, then Graham certainly could and still be kickin' enough to whip Mordack.

It's actually one of the dead ends in the game, if you fail to save Cedric on Harpy Island, Mordack's bolt will hit you and frazzle you to death. Ash pile more or less.

With Cedric, it just knocks him out/turns him to stone. Guess magical birds are more resistant to killer bolts.
Definitely don't remember that. I guess I never realized that you didn't have to save Cedric (to get past the Harpy Island, anyhow). Which bolt, btw? A snake-eyes-gate bolt? A bolt during the final fight? Something different? I don't remember this at all. That's so weird.

Basically if you fail to pick up Cedric on harpy island, so he dies there. You can continue the game up to the wand energy transfer sequence. Mordack will use the last energy in his wand to blast graham. Dead End (probably the most diabolical one in the game since it's literally at the very end of the game)!

In the normal path where you take Cedric and he is healed, leads up the same way, except Cedric is blasted by the final energy of the wand instead of Graham. This allows Graham the chance to spell duel wig the evil wizard.

Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Yeah, but who wouldn't think that saving Cedric wouldn't be required? He's lying there on the ground in plain sight begging you for help. Yes, he was annoying but surely the game designer didn't intend for one to just leave him there. Not being able to finish the game that way is pretty much a punishment for being stupid. :P
