This might be the wrong thread for this, so feel free to move it.

My favorite album of all time has to be Bill Cosby's brilliant 1968 comedy recording 200 MPH. In the title track of this album, Cosby tells the story of how racing driver Carroll Shelby had a car custom-built for him. He then goes on to describe how the car, despite being everything he ever dreamed of, intimidated him so much that he couldn't bring himself to actually drive it.

I always assumed this story was just made up, but I just found this page that suggests there was some truth to it:
