Which adventure games do you remember playing, and which ones did you like the best.

Personally the ones I got (usually filled with magic and midieval times) were all good.

Robin Hood will always be a favourite.

KQ5, 6 and 7 bring back good memories.

EcoQuest 1 was very well done I thought.

The second laura bow, and the first Laura bow were good.

There was one called Amazon, ("something" of the forbidden eye. I forgot). It was a game where the hintbook was incorporated into the game. I wish that took off a bit better.

Indiana Jones, the Fate of Atlantis was very good.

hmm those are some of my all time favourites. It's a sad thing that genre of gaming is gone. I would still buy games, if they were 2d and a decent story behind them. Anyone know of other old adventure games, I'm always trying to find a lot of new vintage games to play. I don't care if its made 1990.

The Curse of Monkey Island. If that isn't old enough, then Monkey Island 1 and 2.

Questing Character

There was this game, you were a monkey on top of a building and you had to throw bananas at the monkey on top of the other building.  I LOVED that!!

Oh, adventure games...uhm....KQ3 has always been my favorite.  Even though I couldn't even get down the mountain until I was seven.... :P

Hmm KQ7 was made like in 1995. That was about 9 years ago, I think thats pretty old. But basically anything that is earlier than 1999 I call old games (this is also thinking of the fact that no one made adventure games in the last 5 years).

So if it is a true adventure game, it probably is old. Hence adventure gaming is a dead genre.

Questing Character

Now, now, let's not be negative.  The people here at KQ9 and the people at AGDI seem to be proving that adventure gaming is not as dead a genre as most people seem to think.
It is an alive, well, and thriving community of lots of people.  There just don't seem to be many people who realize we're all out here havign to make do with things like Dungeon Seige and Diablo instead of what we *actually* want--adventure games!!

haha I loved the way everyone could imagine the game in a different way due to it being a text adventure. And that jester was BLOODY ANNOYING! AGH!

Ok, well if we open it up to mid to late 90's games, Zork Inquisitor has a special place in my heart. Gotta love the wisecracking lantern ;) (and the screens were, IMHO, beautiful :))

The game I cut my teeth on and one of my favorites is Douglas Adams “The Hitchhikers Guide the Galaxy” from Infocom.

The cool thing is that you can play the whole game for free (and legitimately so) at Douglas Adams site as a java applet! Check it out: http://www.douglasadams.com/creations/infocomjava.html   ;D

No, I got stuck during the puzzles where your senses are lost I think. I used the walkthrough but some kind of bug kept me from being able to get past it.

I always got lost on the Heart of Gold… one of the doors wouldn’t let me in to someplace, can’t remember where…

The screening door, perhaps? The solution to that puzzle really requires a mind-bend to solve.

I played the Hitchhiker' Guide applet... gave up pretty close to the begining. I got this feeling you need to read the book before you play this game - not just because of possible spoilers, but also because otherwise you wouldn't even think about typing stuff like "lay down in front of bulldozer"  :P
"Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Jeysie

Yeah, that was a big flaw in the Hitchhiker's Guide game... there were zero clues about how to do a lot of things unless you read the books. :P I actually had read the books beforehand, so it didn't trip me up, but I always get annoyed at badly-clued puzzle design. Requiring esoteric knowledge outside of the game and manuals is a bad idea, IMHO. :P

But if you haven't read the books, I recommend doing so... great stuff!

I did read the book. Unfortunately it was long enough ago for me to forget most of the detail :( I had to use the hints the game gives you after you die about a dozen times. That was really irritating since I had to restart each time I died, not to mention getting insulted by the game for dying ::)

If I had to name one game, it would be Longbow(Robin Hood). Although I'm certainly biased, I used to read a great deal on medieval England. For those that don't know, Robin Hood was a real person. Although almost all of the details are legend.

B'rrr

yeah!! I really liked that game!! ; ) .

..I kinda like the new robin hood game too (the one that looks like commando's/desperado's/etc) but it is just too easy... and not an adventure game

I've played the demo, and I might buy it later. I normally wait for the prices to get at least half the original price(unless it is a great game).

There is a newer Robin Hood game. PC/Xbox/PS2
