How do i get past the gates to go to chessboard land?

Im assuming there is something there since that checker piece ran off in there.

It's not supposed to be locked. There's a bug in the game if you start it from Episode 2. If you start a new game in Episode 3, this bug will go away. And you are right, there is a big puzzle awaiting in Chessboardland.

That's one way to stump the snot out of someone...  lol

I also found that if you talk to Jollo at the book store it leads to a dead end.  After all the topics are gone it leaves that topic window open but nothing is there.... so you have no choice but to ctrl alt del the game...  just pointing that out.
